Hi,
I think some of you guys may be interested in this: A chap called Carl Prescott has snaffled the Transport2k.co.uk site and intends to use it to act as a rebuttal to style over content anti-car propagandaristas without lowering itself to mudslinging and conspiracy theories.

The original thread discussing the idea can be found here:
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?v=i&t=8580

Links to the Yahoo group:

This has already pulled in one unsuspecting punter...

Here below is pasted Carl's starting post so you can get a feel of what's needed without awaiting joinup acceptance.
.....
Right then, now we've got a few members signed up, lets get some discussion
going.

We currently need input on the following:

Web Design
----------

If anyone is willing to offer any help on this front, it will be very
gratefully received. I have basic web design skills at best and could do with
someone tidying up after me. Also, my PHP/Perl skills are as near to
non-existent as it's probably possible to get, so some help on that front and
also MySQL will again be happily accepted.

Hosting
-------

I have a couple of hosts in mind, but thought I'd start off by trying to blag
some for free. So, if anyone has some spare capacity knocking around with
PHP/MySQL as a minimum, then please get in touch. The best I can offer you at
the moment in payment is a credit on the site for being such a kind and caring
person. I'll also arrange that you're personally rewarded in heaven.

Content
-------

Most important of all really, we some content. So. can we start kicking around
some ideas for some articles and such-like. The only thing I can think of that
I definitely want on there for now is a point-for-point rebuttal of some of the
more dubious claims on the Transport 2000 site - most significantly, those
without a credited source.

Other than that, I'm open to any kind of offers on the article front. I'm
going to be writing a few at some point, if we can come up with some subjects,
we can try and farm out some other work as and when.

Site Awareness
--------------

Another important issue we're going to need to think about in the coming weeks
is that of the site's profile. I've got a few ideas as to how we can do this,
but we need to get the above three points sorted first, in my opinion.

That's it for now, feel free to reply with all and any ideas you may have on
what you want and what you can contribute to the site.

Once again, many thanks for taking an interest.

A typical day's gassing rant would provide enough reasoned debate and all-too-rare common sense thinking to give this site some teeth (and content!) Anyone fancy dedicating some of their time to dismantling anti-car mantra?
