Villagers to get speed guns.
Discussion
West mercia police are to issue villagers in Hereford with their own speed guns to catch motorists.
Video footage is to be downloaded at the end of each week(apparently) to the police who will then send out warning letters, and if offenders continue, prosecutions.
Under the name of Community Speed Watch.
So some anti car nut gets one of these guns from the cops and uses the the old "trigger flick" technique to get higher speed readings huh?
People of occupied countries do stuff like this, its called Collaboration.
Whos gonna supervise these dum shits while theyre making up false statements about the rest of us?
I assume id be within my rights to park in front of his setup and block his view?
Seeing as how hes not a cop so id not be obstructing an officer?
Or are they going to make up some law to allow my prosecution?
It gets better here everyday.
Whatever next i wonder? Congestion cameras in the bathroom charging to use the BOG?
Or hows bout a gatso on the landing catching me running on the stairs?
Dont want you falling UP the stairs and hurting urself do we now? And best of all no points...just 30 quid for the double flash......thanx.....

I guess there will soon be a new thread called "Villagers who are less of a w**ker to get laser blinders"!!!
You can imagine the people who would be up for this. It Mr Aging T. Osser with his sandles again and while he is doing it he will be listening to his (or her) fine collection of locomotive engine sounds on their Roberts radiogram.
Think the next type of camera will be a gatso that will double flash, then uproot itself and chase you down the road flashing merrily all the way.

Well sorry folks but anything that stops people speeding in villages could be a good thing. Providing they are used sensibly.
I live in a village and this weekend have had to contend with 20 lads kicking shit out of each other 30ft from my front door in the early hours of Saturday morning, someone parking opposite our drive on double yellow lines so we could not get the car out not to mention the number of speeding motorists. Considering our village has narrow roads and pavements - 30 mph is a bit excessive. Crime in rural areas is on the increase and personally I would rather see speed detection in residential areas than on motorways etc.

Agreed, totally. But the system will be abused. They will almost certainly be posted at the edge of the villages nowhere near the danger areas and probably in areas where it goes from NSL to 40 for no reason.
If this system is used properly then I will fully support it. The odds of that happening judging by current trap placement is doubtful.
The village I live in has roads subject to 30mph 40mph 50mph and NSL I could guess where all cars will be targeted. The idea stinks as it will lead to civil unrest and somebody will get seriously hurt.
The people operating these devices will be "ordinary" members of the public they do not have the backup of the uniform. In theory sounds great but just imagine the seen in the local on Friday when the local thug finds he's received a NIP for speeding in his local area he will soon find who has been operating the camera/gun

Silly question maybe but can a civilian be involved in a criminal prosecution?
Perhaps find out who exactly operates these guns, wait for them to go out for a drive and follow them with a camcorder, and video their dangerous driving, present evidence to plod and demand full prosecution.

Hmm - Video footage? I hope the good Burgers of said village are registered under the data protection act
.....and are in a position to supply a copy of any footage taken of private individuals going about their lawful business on the Queens highway.
"You must remember me I drove through last Tuesday morning - no I don't remember the time but I've got a green TVR reg no. XXXX XXX - Oh dear, wiped the tape have you, I'm going to have to report you for breaching the terms of the data protection act"
Btw, you could also use this as a good way to get some video footage of the Car (hope they've got sound as well!). You could probably get a few mates in convoy as well - look good on the club website "Our cruise through Little Soddingham"
Cheers

I think it will only be a matter of time before one of these "socially concerned" citizens gets the crap kicked out of them by an angry motorist.
God knows the Police get enough aggro when they stop people for alleged offences, but the uniform is a defence to an extent; your average Mrs Grantham from No17 will just get a good kicking if she lasers the wrong person. Expect to see the expensive laser guns stolen or wrecked too...

The 20 kids will be stopped from fighting because a civie has a speed camera ithink not, Nor will parking on double yellow lines and rural crime.Sso lets keep to speeding as reason for and guess who will be using it, Some retired numbty.
Well M'lud the reason my wife told me to run over the gentleman at the side of the road was; he appeared to be pointing a camera of some sort at the children in the back of our car, the film from which could (as my wife rightly pointed out) fall into the hands of a paedophile ring. no jury in the land could find for the plaintiff right!
Two radar guns for one village? Abuse? Kick the crap out of? You people are lucky. The police over here carry real guns. And unfortunately the punk that you bitch at for being loud or starting a fight also carrys a gun. Get caught over here doing the ton or close and you may end up looking down the barrel of a gun. Cheap gas, cheap ammo, cheap guns, welcome to america.
