Television presenter Johnny Vaughan says his pet dog crashed his sports car in a bizarre accident, the Sun has reported.

The tabloid said Vaughan's bulldog nudged his 60,000-pound Maserati into gear and stepped on the accelerator -- sending it flying into a van.

"I was too shocked to be angry," Vaughan, who presents a BBC chat show, was quoted as saying in Saturday's paper. "I couldn't believe my dog crashed my car."

The 36-year-old said the crash happened after he stopped to check on his dog Harvey as he drove him home from a veterinarian's practice in southwest London.

With the engine still running, Vaughan got out of the car and walked round to the passenger's side, where the dog was sitting. It was then Harvey leapt on the controls, causing 11,000 pounds of damage, Vaughan said.

Which Maserati? Automatic
or did the dog do a nice clutch down, shift to first then depress accelerator bringing up clutch nice and smooth to so as not to stall. (Yeah so he also got out of a running car without engaging the handbrake....?)

How about: he can't drive.

Shame Johnny Vaughn was not standing in the way
but I guess that would have been impossible
as he was driving ... woops - what have I given
away ... that was supposed to be a secret.

Sorry Johnny !

Whatever you think about JV, he's a world apart from the anodyne personality-free drones that usually grace our TV screens... least he's colourful and has a decent sense of humour..

I'm not sure that the word "accident" applies here. Shouldn't this have been described as a "stupid"?

Don't leave your engine running. Twat.

I would suggest Mr. Vaughan is trying to excuse a piece of stupidity on his part....of the "all the gear and no idea" variety.
