What did you believe in, or what white lies were you told by parents?

To kick off, when I was about 5, I used to believe that when I fell asleep all my toys would come alive, so I used to tuck my dolls and cuddly toys into bed, so they would be warm and comfortable.
I would therefore end up sleeping right on the edge of the bed.

Also the pretty standard white lie from parents, don't pull faces because if the wind changes you'll stick like it.

My sister's told me that I had to wee within 5 seconds of feeling the urge otherwise the bogeyman would steal my teddy.
Edited to add - also my head would cave in if I picked my nose and if I undid my belly button my bum would drop off - nice sisters!

When I was a small boy I belived that Santa actually excisted and that he covered the whole of the world delivery presents in one night. How lame was I ????.
To prevent my two children of 14 months and 24 months (yes I have been busy) falling for the same lie I will tell them both the truth next year

If I didnt eat my dinner the people from the 'reform school' would come and take me away.

Father Christmas lived in this house with outisde lights ( rare in early 70's) just down the road and on xmas eve Id be taken down and wave.

Farting in the bath would make the water smell .. water board people would come and tell me off.

When I was about 4 I wondered where poo came from, and I suddenly realised it's stored in large coils in your buttocks, ready for release. despite 20 years of medical training, it's hard to let these anatomical faux pas drop!!

Last year, my kids (aged 6 and 8) very nicely placed Barbie on her back in the middle of the lounge floor, and mounted our plastic dancing Santa on top. He was going at her hammer and tongs, still singing, believe it or not, "Here comes Santa Claus!" I kid you not, I nearly wet myself!!

Well done, Nubbin. I was sitting here getting bored. After the poo coils and Santa's coming stories I'm now sitting here crying with laughter.

40 and still waiting... mind you, maturity is much overrated, except in wine and cheese.

Edited for crap spelling, and I haven't been to the pub.

I got told this, so NEVER ate crusts as I hated my curly hair (and still do, although the curl has started to drop out).

My brother got sent to the hardware store for

Fence post holes
Chicken wire seed
elbow grease
