Was presented today with birthday pressie from the wife; Flights from gatwick to monaco for the F1 grand prix, 4 nights hotel (inc 4x race tickets) with motor boat from the hotel and back everyday to monaco harbour with seats in the swimming pool grandstand. Couldn"t believe it as I was in top place on her sh*t list at christmas because I forgot to buy her a card!

yep, went there a couple of years back and the atmosphere is tremendous as is the sense of speed.
what you must do is hire a car and stick it in the casino square car park on the testing or qualifying days - as soon as the f1 ends the barriers are removed and hey presto you get to drive the empty track yourself. got the pics of my griff somewhere with F50 in front and f40 behind.

The Monaco weekend is the best F1 event to go to. Where else can you walk in the pitlane 30 mins after qualifying. Or stand next to the F3000 boys as the go to the grid - awesome. (see pics)
On the Saturday evening/early morning - the circuit is open and you can do the whole thing. One tip, the tunnel isn't flat in a 911 Turbo - that slight bend is much sharper in real life (it is possible but not without scaring the living siht out of the passenger)I go down with a load of drivers - invariable someone gets arrested - Colin Mcrae, two years ago, and Thomo set fire to some dwarf's scooter that year as well. Oh what fun !! Plenty of big sponsor boats in the harbour - which are easy to blag on to. It's open season.
Sunday after the race you'll find it pretty easy to stroll into the F1 paddock. I ended getting a dozen mates in with me - having convinced the security that they were all guests of mine !!
Places to go - Stars and Bars in the harbour - eat and drink while watching the teams prepar the cars in the paddock!

You have a wife with true PH qualities my friend. Monaco is a must for any F1 fan. I was there two years ago on the biggest boat in the harbour. Sir Bernie (took over the thing much to the owners dislike) and threw a party on it. Mucho totty and I mean MUCHO TOTTY! Chatted with Ronaldo and Boris Becker(my heros)and bumped into a few ex's

Nah, much prefer Silverstone, better quality of greasy burger, a nice couple of hours queuing to get in and out, and much better scenery. In fact I've got four tickets to Silverstone which I'd be prepared to swap.
Seriously, it's a PH dream.... as the week goes on the quality of cars becomes stratospheric.... in front of both the Casino and the Loews Hotel (now changed name) on the "hairpin", the standard for being allowed to park in front rises each day as the race approaches. You will be tripping over the likes of F360's, 996TT's, and other "ordinary" supercars.... I would lay money that you'll see an odd Enzo or two, as well as Zonda, Bugatti, Murky-Lager, etc.
Look forward to hearing the stories when you get back in May.
