While out on a 200 mile trip yesterday in the Yellow One going along at a nice steady pace 
as you do.
Why is it when you have just safely overtaken a slower vehicle and on approaching the next the knob of a driver accelerates away as if they are being chased by an angry wasp.
Not in a safe manner either:
No.1: BMW 535 tootling along 45/50 mph sees me and floors it, bendy road and cuts corners like a madman. 2 miles further on I approach a village and he's parking up...
No.2: Same road catch a pug 306DT at lights, lights go green and he thinks its Santa pod
no big deal I think but he then overtakes 2 cars on solid chevrons no indicators cuts the second one up and gets flashed by oncoming car. Couple of miles down the road and he turns off.. 
There were others but you get the picture.
Anyone else get this or is it cos I have a yellow shouty colour..?

Strangely, I never get this type of behaviour driving sportscars, but ALWAYS when driving vans. I seriously believe that people take it as a personal insult when they are overtaken by a van. You have no idea how many times I go to overtake someone while I'm doing 60 only to find myself side by side with them touching 90 and unable to get past.

Is it that they can't bear the fact that someone is going to get past them.
One does'nt take the bait anymore I have nothing to prove, we all break speed limits from time to time its just a matter of doing so in a safe way(conditions allowing etc)

A very steady pace if you were left for dead by a Diesel 5 series!
Nothing wrong with the power of the current 535d with quoted power of 272bhp and a 413lb/ft torque. Not suggesting they're a sports car, but they're quick.
I've come across quite a few idiots when driving the Tusc. For some inexplicable reason people assume that you're up for racing them and start driving like a bellend as if they've got something to prove to you . I can see the muppets now down the pub...."Yea, got in a bit of a tussle with a TVR today.....I showed him a clean pair of heels though in my Focus TDCi....it's the torque you know....blah blah blah"
It's the yellow thing, I'm afraid... same here. I share your pain. (I imagine I'd only share it to about 50mph though, by which point you'd be not inconsiderably further down the strip.) BTW is that a TVR colour or a respray?

Hi Zevans,
Sorry did'nt see you had asked me a question only spotted as looking through old posts..
As far as I know it is a TVR colour there are a couple of Sagari the same but not 100% sure, although the Griff was resprayed a year or so from new original colour was VW Nugget.

I get it a lot as well, people are obviously ashamed to be overtaken by a Metro. Such as the woman driving the Ford Ka a few weeks ago at 35mph in a 60. Get to a straight, into 3rd and out i pull, when she obviously catches sight of the Viking badge and decides that we are on the final straight at Silverstone
. She then wrenches her foot to the floor so quickly that she narrowly avoided steering into the kerb. Well done dear

I was out in the M3 for a hoon the other day on my favorite set of twisties and in front of me was a Subaru Sumo (Bedford Rascal style) I came out a right hander and went to overtake him and as soon as he clocked me in his mirror he drove in the middle of the road right till the end of the section (around 2 miles). It must of have a Vmax of 32mph!
I don't think people like being overtaken nowadays and see it as an affront that someone wants to go faster than them. It doesn't take much to realise you have a queue of cars behind you and you're going slower than everyone else. They could at least slow a little more on a straight and indicate left to allow others past, or to pull in at a convenient place. If they're going 40 in a 60, it's not as though they haven't the time to do this. It seems road courtesy is now becoming something you demand, rather than offer to other drivers.
I've had it in the Tiv and in the saloon, with people speeding up monstrously or slowing down to a crawl around corners only to speed up to 50 again along the few straights, or keeping out to the middle of the road and sometimes over it so that it's difficult to see if the road ahead is clear.
In fact, I've got 3 points from a mobile speed camera because some numpty decided to speed up and thus block me from overtaking while I was alongside. I'm by NO means a perfect driver and I've done my share of trying to push people along a bit faster (never works but at least it might give them an idea they're crawling along) but if I'm in their situation of being out for a jolly or not in a rush, I move over or stop and let people past who clearly want to press on. Personally I'd rather let them get on and not be part of their accident...
And why do drivers coming the other way flash you to say "OI stop that" when you have clearly executed your overtaking manouevre within very safe limits. Volvo and BMW drivers seem the worst for this. Sure if I take chances and overtake with little to spare and just duck in in time I fully expect to be flashed and possibly receive very stern looks and maybe a kicking or two, but if I've overtaken with several hundred yards to spare, why DO these people flash???
Maybe the Govt have passed a law outlawing overtaking and advertised this fact only in Flat Cap Monthly.
Incidentally, ARE Micras limited to 50mph?? Has anyone spotted a Micra approaching 60mph?
I've had it in the Tiv and in the saloon, with people speeding up monstrously or slowing down to a crawl around corners only to speed up to 50 again along the few straights, or keeping out to the middle of the road and sometimes over it so that it's difficult to see if the road ahead is clear.

Around here it seems that Nissan have fitted a compulsory speed limiter at 35mph. They also seem to be restricted to only 1st and 2nd gear wherever they go, even if the engine is at 4000rpm +

Considering the one I rented was very much not slow I think it is the drivers limited to 4k rpm
