AA speedcamera policy
Discussion
After emailing all the major players on the breakdown front, i finally recieved a reply back from the AA.
Im still waiting on a promise from the RAC on theirs.
None of the others, green flag, national breakdown etc could be bothered, so i guess we know where they stand, and where my money wont be going.

Unusually for your good self deltaf, you don't appear to have posted an opinion
. I'll start the ball rolling then.
I think that this is a very well balanced statement. Key points that I saw when reading it once were:-
1) people react to seeing a police car by checking speed and braking, rather than continuing to drive in a safe manner (i.e. everybody brakes the limits).
2) cameras do have a place in reducing the speed at the danger sites
3) our speed limits and sinage are out of date and bear little reliable relation to the risk associated with a particular set of roads.
4) progress on dd and seatbelts was achieved promarily through education.
I support all four points - yes even [2].
Let the PH speeding debate, number 10973 begni

Just thought it worth mentioning that the AA wasn't formed as a breakdown/recovery service but as a means of warning early motorists about early speed traps - and this in 1905!
Also, when the driving licence was originally introduced there was no driving test to go with it, only a fee, so it had nothing to do with road saftey and was just a means of screwing money out of the motorist.
Some things never change...
