What's the best bodyfiller?

I'm doing some repairs and I've done the worst of it, but I'm getting fine pin holes with my current bodyfiller (Loctite) It looks like it aerates slightly as you mix it.

What I need is a good fine finish bodyfiller to finish the job off. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Ive had good results from good old isopon.

hi, not sure if this is relevent but i used to work next door to a paint sprayer, after the filling and rubbing down he used a paint on filler with a brush! then sanded that down, it was thick liquid in a tin, god knows wot it was called but it must be common in the trade.

Now that sounds like what I'm looking for. Someone must know what it's called. Years ago I think there was a product called knife stoppers or something but I haven't seen any around.

if u dont get any reply's from this post i will find out wot it is and mail u tomorrow mate, it should be widley used throughout the trade so i would of thought a good body and sill shop will tell u wot u need, when this product went off the guy would sand it down then spray a light coat of black paint over the erea and sand that down, every sanding would be followed by a light spray of black paint untill after sanding there was no paint left indicating no pin holes left in the finish, its mint stuff but god is body work tedeous lol.

if u dont get a reply from hear mate i'll mail u with it after tomorrow, any good body and sill shop should no wot its called though if u explain its paint on, the guy i new used to paint it on then spray a light coat of black paint over the repair and sand down, the prosess was repeated till no black paint could be seen after sanding indicating no pin holes left, u do need this paint on filler to get wot your after.

I would appreciate that... Sure it takes time, but there's no point trying to get a finish when there are still pin holes in the filler

Yes, it's stopper you want ... and Isopon is good stuff for the bodyfiller ... make sure you use a 'thick' primer and you won't got far wrong.

we always use "smooth 7 " filler from upol.it leaves a lot less pinholes than anything with easy to sand in the description.then to make it perfect,and to remove any remaining pinholes,we spread on a thin layer of "dolphin glaze".this is liquid filler and really makes all the difference.then lots of effort and practice!

For filling deep dents etc isopon P38 is the filler you need, then to fill out any imperfections remaining, or if you only require to fill small cracks or scratches a smear of polyester resin (stopper to the older gent). Or if you are doing complete panels that are of TVR type quality a spray polyester filler is best, although you need a spray gun and compressor for this.
