April 27th 2006 : TVR is set to head overseas!.
The motoring industry has reacted with shock to the proposed closure and loss of 71 jobs with immediate effect, not least because the famous two-seaters now look set to be partly built abroad. The fact that these stunning cars were completely hand-built in Britain has always been one of their major selling points so things aren't looking too bright for a company that's often been held up as one of the few British motoring success stories. Isn't this just a Noble type move to cut the costs. Does the fact that the bodies come from S.Africa affect the Britishness of the Noble? I suspect we should be applauding a move to try to make the car competitive on cost rather than plodding on as the UK industry is inclined to do until it is too late and someone comes in and buys it up. Lotus are no longer owned by a British company but are still perceived as being a British car.
