Advice Please: New company Pool car??

My company is looking for some new company cars. The spec is as follows;

-Cheap to buy, maintain and tax.
-Must be 4 door
-Must be comfortable, as we pick up clients

Its use will be as a pool car, so it doesn't have to be fast. Or flash (bugger!)

As we are a funded organisation, it must also be cheap to buy, maintain and be cheap to tax.

I can only come up with an Octavia Diesel. Does anyone have any other suggestions??

Renault Megane 1.5 DCi Hatchback? Has a 120g/km CO2 emission - should be able to get one for around £10,500 with a/c to keep the clients comfortable.

do you have to buy.You could go to somebody like LEX and lease on an all in where everything,tyres,service,tax etc are included

If you're thinking of an Octvia, go for the estate, they look so much better.

what about an Omega? Cheap to buy and run IIRC? Easy to get 4 people in in comfort...

SEAT Leon TDi, SEAT Toledo TDi or as suggested, the Octavia.

Mate runs a Toledo TDI as a company car -
Nice car, drives well, nice interior - Air Con etc , Cracking stereo - gO LOOK AT ONE.

If you went for an Octavia it would still mean you were picking up clients in a Skoda. I know about all the changes VW have made and the ad campaigns to change their reputation but that hasn't got through to every one yet, would you really want your companies public image to be projected as a Skoda ??? Maybe you would, maybe the "ahead of the rest", "forward thinking", "frugal by efficient" is the correct image ???? I'm not slanting the Octavia at all but it's the "picking up clients" bit that worried me and the possibility of them going back with the other impression of "bloody tin pot little going nowhere firm, they picked me up in a Skoda" Like it or not the impression given out by company cars does matter and theres a lot of snobbery in this country.

Just whip off the Skoda badges and plonk some VW logos and a Passat badge on the back, an nobody'll know.

I was going to suggest Skoda or Seat but as hat's already been done!!!!

Having the same problem at the moment. Have tried the Focus ST170, and it is good, if you don't mind a ford. Get a test drive. Try the Seat Cupra too, either 180 or 210bhp options.....Corolla T sport comes with 190bhp and is fun, if not a bit wallowly.

Failing that the Volvo S60 is a good car and feels smaller to drive than it is

What's wrong with a Ford? Given that the Focus won the TUV award... beating the German "prestige" marques for quality... it'd suggest nothing.
