Apologies Graham, you were right, it was Chigley.

Lord Belborough, if my memory serves me correctly.

In any event, it has to be Jones the Steam.

In the 30's the "LNER" locomotive "Mallard" and the "LMS" locomotive "Coronation" raced each other from the North to London. I saw a documentry interviewing the driver of the "Coronation"; and he said he came so fast into Paddington that he nearly hit the buffers! The 1930's a great age for steam and the drivers of these 120 mph streamliners deserve the credit.

No he doesn't. Ivor is The World's Best Train, so by inference Jones the Steam gets his brownie points merely from being associated with the Great Ivor.

Flasher probably never drove Ivor (though correct me if I'm wrong on that, Flash....) so his brownie points are earned, not inherited. So to speak.

Edited to add: Coolest train driver??! Whatever next? Coolest trolley pusher at Sainsbury's???

Edited again to add: That last edit was NOT an invitation.....
