Did anyone catch the BBC London news earlier? There was a quick item regarding the ammount spent by members of the London Assembly on taxis etc. Ken was second, but the first was his second in command (her name escapes me) who in a six month period last year spent over £3000 on taxis. So much for encouraging use of public transport, over £500 a month on taxis that the poor residents of London pay for!

Nicky Gavron is her name - the very person who doesn't think the congestion charge goes far enough and wants to severely restrict car use across the whole of London. It's a little-known fact that when a politician gets into a taxi at the taxpayer's expense, it magically ceases to be a privately-hired car, and becomes an acceptable form of public transport.
