Ted just a quick one back in response to the email.
Just how many complaints did you get?
If there were "a number" i would wish to know that number.
Of far more significance i think would be the number of non complainants rather than a small number, ie; less than 5 taking the hump.
Being P.C. is a phrase that springs to mind, and please, if i must be admonished, i would prefer it to be done in open forum rather than via email, that way others can judge me too based on the complaint/s.

I think delta is referring to his (-) figure in respect ratng. which I have to say delt, has got lower lately, and I have read your posts, and you have in improved in your posts lately. I know your outspoken, but I dont have a problem with it, but I guess sometimes you can take it a bit far.
just being honest, hope you dont mind.

deltaf, if you want to have it public, please state the source, you're referring to:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=26930
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=26930
Might I suggest that the particular quote from DeltaF be re read but all references to the Muslim faith or individuals get replaced with Tory MP and (any particular one of your choice) if it is still considered to be offensive and inappropriate then the actions and complaints were entirely justified, however if it now brings a smerk to your face then I would suggest that a degree of discrimination has been applied inversely.
Delta I personally apply the rule of thumb to all my posts of "would I say this to a group of peoples faces" if yes, I type it, if no then not. It is wrong to use a forum to hide behind views you haven't got the personality or courage to air in open conversation. I feel that by living by these rules if you say something inflammitory or controversial that you then can justify in further debate your point has been made, (or indeed ask the question if appropriate "is my humour funny?") I also regard these threads as comparable to a pub conversation, we won't always feel the same way and there will always be some gob shite throwing in deliberatly arguementative comments for the fun of it but we don't all shove pint glasses in his head or even rise to the bait, they just tend to become the pub bore who sits in the corner. Keep it open but don't become overly sensitive or politically correct (which is one thing I don't think PH has ever been accused of in the past) but above all keep it mature, structured, and articulate with the odd relapse into childish humour
Having said all that it's Ted's ball and he decides who plays.

I cant seem to find it Bodo, but it was something to do with the Hamza/asylum threads.
Surely i should know who my detractors are?
As for my respect rating, it dosnt really bother me.
Ive put this on here, simply to be open about it.
Ive NO problem with being e mailed and asked to tone it down, its just that id rather it was done on here.
But, on the other hand, i am what i am, and i wont and dont see that i should remain quiet and uncontroversial, unless overwhelming opinion by other PHers dictates it. Maybe a vote is in order?
No offence meant to anyone personally on here by any of this.

deltaf - I'm fairly liberal when it comes to views, and a lot of mine are far from being PC. However, as Mel says it's Ted's ball and he decides who plays.
I've been binned many times, and had threads closed before anyone can even reply to them. Personally, I'm fine with the content and what I've written... but not everyone shares my views.
I haven't read the thread in question, so you may have some valid points, but this site is Ted's livelihood... so you have to understand why he wants to protect it.
Perhaps some things are best just left to rest...?
Good summing up there Mel. Like the pub analogy.

Mine's a Guinness if you're going to the bar. This thread:

You take a serious subject and hijack with puerile sexual gags. I don't pander to the PC lobby, but when it comes to religion you're always at risk of offending people so it's wise to consider your words.
At the end of the day, I'd like PH to remain an intelligent site, not one that has to sink to gutter humour to raise a laugh.
As for justifying my actions, I just have.
