Own up - you voted for them didn't you
Discussion
It's funny, wherever I go and whoever I speak to I can never find anyone who admits to having voted for this shambles of a government we have.
When you look at the mess we are in, failing health service (despite throwing billions of our money at it), low morale in the police and teaching professions, a seeming breakdown in law and order, taxes rising at a ridiculous level, most of our rights surrendered to Brussels and a shambolic asylum and immigration policy, it's a miracle that this lot got re-elected.
So if I didn't vote for them and no one else will admit to having done so, just who did?
And if we don't like it and the alternative has self imploded, what the
can we do about it?
I'm in the mood for revolution here.

Surely you have to ask yourself why the Tories got booted out in '97. Were we not in the shambles you speak of then (and a few years before that)?
A government who is performing badly will eventually be held to rights by the voters. It's happened before and it'll happen again.
Of course, this can only happen if people use their right to their vote. If you don't vote, you've no real right to complain, IMHO.

Damn right, the tories were a disgrace pre 97 and they haven't learned much since. The current leadership is a waste of space and they pose no effective opposition to Blair. That's the frustration - where do we go to find a political party that can make a difference? Blair can do what he likes - he knows the only opposition he has is the left wing of the Labour party and a few newspapers.
I certaintly didnt vote for them, either time. Thank you very much.
As for what to vote for next time, thats dead tricky.
The Libertarian Alliance has a rather off putting logo (reminiscent of the SS and the Swastika for some reason), there is just something I dont trust about the UKIP and the Tories wouldnt get it in their current state, but would with Boris Johnson at the helm.
Matt.

Yup I'll hold my hand up to voting them in mainly to get the tories out - can't help but feel that the same question would have been raised whoever had been voted in - can you remember the state the tories were in at the last and previous elections? I mean they were hardly a credible opposistion and have not been since -Labour will not be getting my vote next time, but who will, I honestly can't say.

Going back to the 70s (just because I can, not because I want to) there was a general rule of thumb for elections, as they tended to take it in turns back then.
Conservatives in - country moderately stable economically speaking, but no big pay rises for joe public, so they vote in Labour.
Labour in - Borrow heavily year on year to provide the sweeteners for joe public. End up in a financial mess, bit of a mini depression, have to tax joe to maintain funding. Joe votes in Conservatives.
Conservatives in - Tighten economy to pay back heavy borrowings of Labour. Just about get there, but after 4 years joe's fed up again and falls for Labour's promises.....
And so the cycle continues......
haven't seen much change over the years except to the window dressing. Maggie did manage to get us out of Debt when she got a second term and gave people a fair bit back, but then people wanted more and the bubble burst.

Then I implore you to look at their manifesto..

You'll find a broad selection of policies covering all matters.
Bear in mind that because they are libertarian and in favour of small government, you'll find that some policy areas are missing, but these are areas which they believe should be in the hands of the individual, not a nanny state.
