Puma - Traction Control?
Discussion
Can anyone tell me if your standard 'Ford Puma Black' 1.7 has traction control fitted? A friend of mine has one and has, on numerous occasions, mentioned his traction control cutting in sometimes to prevent wheelspin.
Now he isnt really into cars but I am unsure as to whether he has it fitted based on some of the comments he's come out with. To save me from searching the net can anyone tell me if it's standard on Puma blacks or an option on any of them at all?
He reckons he hasnt spotted a TC light of any sort flashing when he thinks its cutting in. This seems odd to me. Maybe its not cutting then engine? Just using brake system perhaps?
I'd love to tell him he's a fool and it's not fitted :-)

Sorry.. a basic TC system IS fitted. It's a brake TC system, that uses the brakes to stop the wheel spinning to regain grip. Quite crude, but reasonably effective. It's only a low-speed jobbie... don't think it works above 20mph or something like that...
Best way to demonstrate it is to put on wheel on wet grass, and the other on tarmac...
There is a light... seem to recall it's blue...
Oh, and it's listed in the spec brouchure and the manual!
The BTCS was fitted to all 1.7 Puma's, but seem to recall it was an option on the 1.4, but the later 1.6 did have it fitted.

er... it should. You'll find it only illuminates if the wheels continue to spin (like you give it serious welly in first, up a hill on snow!)
Just had a chat in the office... seems that earlier cars had orange lights.
When you turn the ignition on... check on the dash... the light should come on... again, location stated in the manual!
