Took the S out for a blast yesterday... weather was OK, so thought I'd enjoy myself round the lanes.
Started her up... pootled off... through the various traffic calming measures... and over the long soft speed bump... phut, phut.. pth. Stalled.
Hmm... odd. Turned everything off... waited a few seconds... and then started... caught first time. All seemed well.
Pootled off... getting some heat into the car... eventually oil temp rises... and off we go for some fun. Got stuck behind a bus (doing 30 up hill in a 60) and was in a higher gear than I needed (say 3rd, instead of second).
Hello...? The lights have gone off! Crap.
Turned them off... back on again. Nothing.
Turned them off, down to second... booted it passed the bus and on my way. Voltmeter seems OK, no charge light... turn lights on... and they come on!
Hmm... MY FIRST ELECTRICAL GREMLIN!
(turned out to be a dirty contact - which I've now cleaned!)

Podie, doesn't the myth say
LUCAS - inventor of electrical darkness?
I've rebuilt the loom on my Landy from scratch to avoid these surprises in future.
I'll never do it again, because the biggest hassle was to investigate which wires I needed in terms of braiding color / diameter / length
However the result is satisfactorily: If there's a gremlin, I only have to look at the component, not on the connections

Funny how posts on here bring back memories eh? I had a 924Turbo on which the headlamps simply folded themselves away whilst driving one night. Try as I may I couldn't figure out how to get them to pop-up again even though I could see the lamps were on inside the nose! I had to complete the journey on side lights and main beam held on with the flasher stalk. Oh what fun...

IF anyone was blinded by an S3 on Chritmas eve last between Southampton and Exeter, that was me doing exactly the same thing. Sorry.. Couldn't get to the relay to fix as it was behind 2 large ziplock things that I couldn't get to.
Loads of fun in the dark and rain that was..
