I have only been driving for 4 years yet even it that time i have noticed a massive reduction in general manners regarding all aspects of road use. Especially infuriating however is when someone doesn`t thank you for giving way to them. I do understand that sometimes this is immposible, when holding a 4 wheel drift for instance, but in many cases it is simply rude. Old before my time i know but i bet i ain`t the only one!
THANK YOU! at them... The worst thing is the way that people respond to a quick 'i'm here don't crash into me' toot on the horn.
A tawt last week barged past a queue of traffic and nearly took my wing off. After a quick toot he's stopped his car and f'ing and blinding at me. I just drove off but he decided to give chase, obviously unable to keep up in his s h it e box corsa. I would like to have seen his reaction if somebody had pulled that stunt out on him.

This morning 7.15 M62 junction with Leeds ring road.
Etnic minority person in Brand new x type, overshoots the roundabout junction and ends up in flow of traffic hammering down off M62, noticeably perturbed then sets off with all the alacrity of an asthmatic snail waving and grinning like a total ****wit at all the cars that had no option but to stop and let him decide where exactly it was he wanted to go. I only had one wish at the time, to be in control of an old land rover or something akin and not give two flying ****s about hitting his shiny new jag.

There's so much rudeness on the roads these days... What really annoys me is when you give way to one or two oncoming vehicles to pass a parked van or turn into a junction, for example, and the next 20 cars behind take the opportunity to go for it as well. Oh, and none of them say thanks.

This can lead to full beam and horn when I decide that I've had enough and I have priority. Followed by me moving forward and closing the gap until I get my way.

Oh yes, I've been known to do that too, depending on what I'm driving at the time. It's led to some interesting situations - good job I can tell how wide whatever I'm driving is. The looks on the other drivers' faces as you hurtle towards their precious wing mirrors are usually worth the extra effort.
In Germany, it is not considered bad manners not to signal thanks when someone stops to let you past.
At first it annoyed me but then I realised it was not so much bad manners as 'not the done thing'.
They do not see a reason to say thank you.
The gap was to small for two cars to pass, the only place to pull in is on your side, so you pulled in......Whats the big deal.
Just learn to chill, it really is no big deal.

Earlier this evening...driving along our road (20mph with "speed cushions") looking for a parking space. Spot one up ahead, so indicate well in advance and slow down gradually, then pull as far to the side as I can to let the car behind pass before I parallel park. Tosser in car behind responds with loud blast on the horn as he accelerates past. What the fcuk did he want me to do? "Well, I'd like to park there but as the fellow behind is in a hurry, best not hold him up..."
Many, many years ago travelling from central London north towards the M1 some guy in a 'new' 924 was trying to out accelerate me at each set of traffic lights (loads of them) as we headed north. I wasn't really trying very hard in my E Type but it obviously pi**ed him off too lose every time because at the umpteenth set of lights he started pointing aggresively towards the rear of my car and making 'odd' gestures (whilst smiling pleasantly).
As he sped off in the distance I pulled over to the side and got out in the pouring rain to see what was wrong with my car. After a couple of minutes and soaking wet, the penny dropped !! Doh !
I've used that little trick SO many times since - when the opportunity arises when people are rude, cut you up etc. ... always smile so that people BELIEVE you.
Yeah, I've been driving for just over 4 years and I love it. However, I too have noticed in that short time that less and less people say thanks when we do as we are told - "Be a courteous driver." As a result, it really makes me mad when I sit patiently indicating my intention and no-one lets me out (as opposed to the taxi's who just stick there nose into traffic and wonder why people are pissed off at them).
Its interesting how we learn all these unwritten rules after we pass our tests. Letting people out and giving way is an integral part of driving. I feel this should be at least mentioned to students when learning.
Classic numpty today, Im behind one car pulling onto an empty 3 lane motorway. The lady then pulls into the 2nd 'kin lane and does 50mph WTF

no you dint overtake but stayed in your lane as it was clear and thus the right thing to do. The sometimes get the message and pull back in after youve gone past.
A while back, a Parcel Force driver shouted "W@nker!!" at me because I drove over a single file bridge on which I had right of way, causing him to have to wait. Clearly he thought having a royal crest on the door over rides the rules of the road. 2 weeks later I had a parcel force rep visit chasing our overnight parcel delivery business. I took great delight in informing him that I will NEVER use his company, and explaining exactly why.

OK - I agree completely with the sentiments on this post - common courtesy does appear to be lacking in normal driving today - one thing I do like when I let someone pull out in front of me (I’ve indicated they can by flashing headlights) is they indicate alternate indicators (i.e. - thank you) - all when and good, however if I remember correctly using your headlights and indicators to signal to other drivers is a no-no according to the high way code (or something else?) - it seems to be common courtesy, but is really it allowed?

Yep, except that if I'm driving the Tiv there's only one person woried about putting a dent in a very expensive sports car and thats me!
The other guy in their works van or indestructable bull barred 'SUV' really don't care if they hit me or not.
