Ted - fancy politics?
Maybe we could have a pistonheads party?
We could then really
1.hammer fog lights
2.get rid of speed cameras
3.make "outlaw" minister for transport
4.stop the BiB driving to jobs fast
5.give TVRs to all law enforcement officers FoC!
Get your voting slips at the ready!

Perhaps we should call it the Intelligent Peoples' Party then everyone will vote for us as they all want to be intelligent.
You think that will stop them voting for the Fcuking Stupid Party?
Let's hope so. Thing is though, if you read look at their policies it includes solutions to all the things that most of the people on here moan about. Asylum seekers, being tough on little tw@ts that vandalise your motors, transport system all that stuff thats so buggered up.

I don't know or care enough about it though, so I'll just keep voting for the raving loonies.

Apparantly the local MP has claimed that they "prey on fears" well NO SH!T SHERLOCK. That is exactly what they are doing and why they are winning seats. It needs the main parties to realise this and actually do something about what is causing these fears. Then people will feel that they have sensible parties to turn to again.
I am not advocating the BNP or any of their policies BUT if the mainstream politicians don't start listening to the change in mood of the country and make changes that people see as positive steps to combat these issues then it will quickly grow and will become the norm.

Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for. He himself is an economic migrant if ever I saw one - Australian by birth, founded a newspaper empire in the UK then obtained US citizenship by ditching his Australian wife and marrying an American one. That's the sort of behaviour his tabloids rail against.

Murdoch has got a lot to answer for, but
Eric Mc said: Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for.
he's the ideal economic migrant if ever I saw one.. self made man - never likely to be signing on the dole, or getting a free car from the DSS or intimidating people with a squeegie at traffic lights etc..
He himself is an economic migrant if ever I saw one
He inherited his father's paper in Australia, which he built up into a success. On the back of that, he then bought other Australian newspapers.
Australian by birth, founded a newspaper empire in the UK
Once he'd build up further wealth, he bought into the UK market on a number of occasions until he'd built up his portfolio of 4 papers and some supplements.
errrmm.. I 'm not sure he did.. he got American citizenship on his own merits and he did so because US laws prevent non-nationals owning sections of the media - he wanted Fox and teh New York times so he did what he had to.
-obtained US citizenship by ditching his Australian wife and marrying an American one. That's the sort of behaviour his tabloids rail against.
well, like I said, I don't think he did any such thing, but you have to understand the paradox that papers like the Sun & NoW *need* such 'scandal' to sell papers so as much as they might rail against it, they wouldn't for one minute want people to stop doing it.
That's the sort of behaviour his tabloids rail against.
I agree that Murdoch's empire does not work for the good of humanity, but unless your a commie barsteward (are you?) you cannot fail to admire what he has achieved as an individual.
Oh and if Murdoch wasn't satiating the desire of the public for scandal, tittle-tattle and rabbble-rousing.. someone else would be doing it.. Kerry Packer for one.

The general outbursts against "Immigrants" do not tend to segregate between, "economic migrants", "asylum seekers", "Benefit Agency spongers" or even foreigners as a class. I'm an "economic migrant" in a way as I came to the UK 17 years ago from Ireland witha vague intention of bettering myself. I have always worked and paid my taxes, am now self-employed and have never drawn a penny from the "system", only contributed £thousands. I have nothing against Mr Murdoch in particular, only hypocrisy.
I'm against ALL people who welch off the "system", whether they are native to the UK or not. Everybody should make a contribution to society. Howver, I do think that the current tirade coming from the tabloid media is abhorent and will lead to violence before too long. If the situation has not calmed down by the summer months, expect to see bloodshed as vigilante mobs descend on housing estates or asylum camps.

Perhaps, but how much notice do you think our government would have taken of the problem had the tabloids not gone to such lengths to drawe attention to what's going on...

I agree that the British media have a net-negative effect on society, but sometimes you have to be pragmatic.. if it's their actions that forced Billy Liar and David Blind-git to sit up and listen, then I for one am glad that they did so.
One other thing.. the reason AFAICS that distinctions are not drawn between asylum seekers, economic migrants etc.. is that the PC lobby have deemed the term 'asylum seekers' and particularly 'bogus asylum seekers' to be unacceptable.. therefore the press are forced, by those who would have us not discuss these issues, to use generic terminology ('immigrants') and not specific terminology that might be erroneously considered discriminatory and racist by the Grauniadistas of this world.
The paradoxes of the progressive-liberal and PC lobbies are responsible for the consequent tarring all migrants with the same brush owing to their opression of descrptive (if perjorative) language.

Blunkett was criticising the BNP for their lies and hatred.
Er, scuse me, but the locals voted that way.
Whats he saying zactly?
That people shouldnt have the right to vote for a party like that?
I think it just shows how far from reality the likes of him and his labour pals really are.
This is a serious issue, and hes basically saying that the residents of Halifax have no rights to vote for a party of their choice!!!
Nice little commie bastard or what?
One party state so long as it labour huh?
Sorry Blunkey, youll NEVER get my vote, not in a million!
BTW Gemini, can i be the chief Diplomat please?...you know ill be good.

Dang it, Zee, you hit the Gawd damn nugget right own the cotton pickin' sweet spot there, yessiree.
The fact that you can't refer to Enoch powell's infamous contentions without drawing the wrath of this mob illustrates the point.
And that's objectively irritating because from what's being said by a couple of my right honourable colleagues above and is so bleedin' obvious to many of us nowf of Vicarage Road, the prophecies are sounding awfully resonant.
Still, no skin off Tucsan(y) Tone's nose, is it?
Well, I've just heard the item about this on Radio4. I have a few observations:
The clips used from the vox-pop were all of grotesquely ignorant people saying some of the most inadvertantly unpleasant things.
I wonder if that really is the voter profile for the BNP or if Aunty decided it best to stigmatise the typical voter who turns to the BNP in order to make others shy away from following suit.
Those interviews that were broadcast were all with people who'd turned from being traditional Labour supporters and had, for the first time, voted BNP out of a feeling of sheer desperation and fear.
So what are the main parties to do to tackle the rise of the BNP? Well for a start they should consider some of what these naive interviewees said. Such simple statements of feeling, such as, "People round here feel that Asians have been given preferential treatment and that means the white people have lost out."
Translation: Positive Discrimination has made voters turn to the BNP.
My assertion that positive discrimination in favour of group A translates into discrimination against group B, where A & B must share access to a finite resource, is underlined by the above findings.
Abolish positive discrimination and bring true fairness to society and diverse populations will no longer be mechanistically polarized by liberal social engineering.
A lot of the tension between diverse groups will be wiped out over night, simply by no longer accentuating the 'neediness' of one group over another.

I don't think you can blame rampant xenophobia on the odd use of "politically correct" terminology.
I just think that a large number of simplistic minded people are being whipped up into a frenzy by misleading and often downright inaccurate newspaper articles.
By all means vote for the BNP if you feel they represent your views. After all, that is the beauty of living in a democracy. But, living in a democracy also means that each voter must exercise careful jusgement before they cast their vote. Putting someone into power on a single issue ticket is deadly dangerous. The Weimar Republic was also a democracy and the Nazi party was voted lnto power legitimately by the German electorate - largely out of fear of the alternatives, fear of unemployment and fear of racial monorities. Look where that misjudgement took them as a country.
Any party that uses fear as a basis of generating support is dangerous. At the moment, there seems to be an inordinate amount of fear and concern being engendered in people's minds which is providing rich pickings for those holding extreme views.
And by the way, I'm not a "Commie Barstewrd" either, just someone who wishes that humanity would sometimes exhibit more noble sentiments than the more base attributes that are being displayed at the moment.
