In my profession I constantly acquire all sorts of totally useless information and as a consequence am stuffed full of it (for example - and inspiration for this post - see my contribution to www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=23&t=26729&h=0&p=1). But there must be one quintessentially useless piece of information that makes everything else seem positively indispensible.

And I bet it's a Pistonhead that knows what it is...

If you're ever looking for sympathy...

...it's in the dictionary between "shit" and "syphilis"

Once you know that, it's time to just cheer up and get on with things!

(Or is that too useful, Bruce?)

It has to be the public safety announcements that used to be broadcast in the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s about what to do in the event of a nuclear attack! Like your going to need it?

There's a village in Cumbria called 'Old Fart'.

Fits nicely with the ageing population.

The towers of the Humber bridge are not perfectly paralel to each other but lean apart slightly to allow for the curvature of the earth.....or something like that.

And my mums favourite....did you know a giraffe can kill a lion?

Not true! His autobiography says that he didn't like raw carrots and would spit them out after crunching them to record the soundtrack, but he wasn't actually allergic to them.

Bloody big gooseberry bushes?

They also can't run downhill. If ever chased by one, run downhill.
