So who reads car magazines in WHSmith's then?

To be honest, when I was younger, fighting my way to an issue of Performance Car through the beards hunched around Practical Classics was a major annoyance.

Today, I do tend to flick through Autocar to see whether it has a decent article or two in it. And I may have a quick look at CAR as well. (Evo is on subs).

It is cheaper than buying Autotrader if you know exactly what you want, as well

So straw poll... good thing or bad thing? Shoot the browsers or encourage a Border's bookshop 'try before you buy' mentality?

You'd better shoot me now then - I browse everything on mag racks. I've even been through Top Marques and memorised the phone numbers for cars I was after.

I had occasion to buy "Steam Railway" or some such title the other day (for research purposes you understand) and actually felt like I ought to take it out wrapped up in a newspaper, porn mag style.

Sometimes, if I have time to kill, before the bank opens for example, I'll just go and read a few car mags in WHS. I think they provide an excellent public service. Could do with some seats though!

Reading Top marques etc best to put the phone nos in the mobile, nowt worse than forgetting the last digit and having to return for a second glance.

It's not fair now that they are putting the mags in plastic wrappers.

When I worked I town I used to read all the mags, write down Autotrader phone numbers the lot. Now I cannot get to a decent "library" I read PH and am better informed.

I read Evo, Autocar, autotrader, Auto express, 911 and Porsche worl, autosport, Mojo (music magazine), Flypast and Flight International.

Although I do normally divide these into 2 days so it doesn't look TOO bad!

If there are some good articles in it, then i might buy the magazine.

I cannot walk past a WH Smith at lunchtime without going in to check the latest car mags.I do buy the ones with good articles in.however i have to buy them on my way home as if I buy at lunchtime there is no chance of me doing any work that afternoon,which may not go down too well!
