Car Hire in the US of A

Me & Mrs Twin Turbo are off to California towards the end of March. We're planning a bit of a road trip, and have decided that a convertible Mustang should fit the bill nicely.

Can anyone recommend any car-hire companies?

Been out to the US a couple of times in the last two years, used Hertz with no problems.

As for the Mustang forget it! It’s not like the Steve McQueen machine, we hired one in a word GUTLESS.

Sod the expence go for a JAG, you know it makes sense.

Its true, the V6 Mustang is a bit gutless, but it eats the miles and its got no roof. They can be had at reasonable rates from Hertz.

Jag, very nice to do the states in, but horrifically expensive to hire and much harder to find.

Cheers Big Al.....I know the Mustang's not what it used to be, but I've just got this dumb fantasy about driving down PCH1 in a Yank Tank - I used to have Capris, so cart springs hold no fear for me

Glad you've had a good experience with Hertz as that's who I've got the first quote from.

mate, do a search for 'Rent a wreck' you can hire a '67 Thunderbird, much more like it but could be costly. To be honest you might find it a bit too hot in a ragtop, done this a few times and recommend a big engined beasty with AC

If you can find one close by to where you will be coming in, Budget has better prices than Hertz and usually a better selection...

Also, a friend of mine has a Beach Boys tribute band in DC, and they sound an awful lot like the Beach Boys. You can find some of the MP3's here:
