Cowboy builder with an attitued

The house next door has been bought by a load of cowboys. The house is sinking into the ground and they are doing a bodge job with a view to sell it on for a quick profit to an unsusupecting family.
They insist on running heavy equipment just outside my bedroom window early on Sat. mornings and the exhaust from the equipment is gassing me. The site is a mess with equipment all over and no fencing in place, real danger.
I asked them to lay off from early morning work on weekend, there response was piss off our land or we will call the police.
Oh he drives a dodgy M3 with max power body kit and wheels (I drive a BMW so not slagging the make).

hmmm revenge is best taken with a cold heart - so let me suggest something.....
what about inform the town planners of your concerns - they may be breaking some rules, most builders are in the FMB so call them too, try advertising your street & town on here or free ad papers near when they try to sell it advising of your concerns re jerrybuiltness (hmmm) also I don't know if you know any large rent-a-thug friends?...............

He is already pissed off with me. Have phoned environmental health, health and safety and building regs.
The house is so badly damaged, the survey went down 60 feet and could not find solid ground. I know these guys will just patch it up and stuff someone with a real nightmare of a problem.

I am going to put a sign on my house telling of the horrors when they go to sell, this should realy piss him off. Will also phone the estate agents who are selling the property.
Called the police, as usual they wont do anything. Maybe I should say they are parked on a doubble yellow, that should get a massive response.

Or tell the cops the builder drove up the road at 31MPH this morning, they will be out in force by tomoz morning!
building regs should get involved, you could be a complete pain in the Arse and phone them regularly i.e every time they start to dig around the footing etc.
from my knowledge of building regulations etc, they will probably try to under-pin the footings which means they dig along a metre length of the footings and re-fill with steel re-inforcement and concrete, then leave a metre and then dig a metre etc. The local building inspector should be involved and be making regular vists to inspect the 'hole' to check that it is deep enough, if steel re-inforcement is required thay check that the they are correctly spaced and tied, this has to be checked prior to any concrete 'pour'

no fencing! they have a legal responsibility to ensure that any excavations etc are securely barriered off, thay are liable if someone wanders across the land and falls down a hole etc. trespass doesnt come into it!

Yep. My parents have this under their house (built on an old peat bog). They have 60 foot piles down under the house. Also to no solid ground. However, they knew this when they bought it and have even had an extension built with the same piling done. Mind you there house in on an estate where all the houses have the same problem.

NHBC might be worth a call, though I suspect that cowboys would not be listed with them.
You'd be a responsible citizen for reporting your concerns about the place in the state its in, what with all those kids playing around machinery

Dead right, enviromenal health department have a duty with regard to noise pollution, and second option, when they decided to dig up the manhole in our street at 6:30am one Sunday morning, one of my neighbours called the local MP, who to be fair zapped into action and chased the guys until they stopped working, got the normal apology but awake by then !
