Got dragged off to see "8 Mile" at the weekend - the film with Eminem in... surprisingly good actually! Much better than I thought it would be.. and it seems that Mr Mather's is a better actor than I expected too... quite funny in places, fairly good plot... but an abrupt ending!

Anyone else seen it?

nope .. but just as soon as it appears on Kazaa ...

Always makes me chuckle when actors are given credit for playing themselves, which as I understand it, he pretty much does in this.. I mean I know you're not saying he makes Ken Brannagh look like Keanu Reeves, but seriously.. put Mr Mathers in any other role and watch him sink without trace..

Hmmm.. not so sure Carzee... he plays a convincing character with a wide range of emotions... granted it's pretty moody and playing yourself is never going to be rated as highly as playing another part... but even so, it's a better performance than some "professional actors" could probably turn in...

I thought it was really good. I'm not a massive eminem fan, but i have to say that he did put in a credible acting performance. Granted, he wasn't playing a charcter that was too alien from his own experiences but none-the-less i reckon the boy done good!

Good film, great soundtrack, but yes - it does end raher abruptly!!

As usual, your comments are rather ambiguous, what d'you really mean

On this occasion though, I dissagree with you, perhaps not to your taste, but certainly not talentless IMHO of course

I don't agree with you there. I can understand not liking him, but the boy's got talent.

Hmmn talented or puppet? I just cant decide.

His first album, potentially mediocre yet the hype has seemed to have made it groundbreaking mainly due to the fact that he stuck to his guns over content.

Interesting, but the jury is mostly still out on him.

That said though, I've gotta give it to him, on the weekend of the release of 8 mile he was number one in the singles, album and film charts.

Matt.

Saw him at the Carling weekend in Leeds, to my surprise he put on a excellent show, one of the best actually, before I thought he was a jumped up little twat but actually don’t mind him now, his tickets for Milton Keynes sold out in 20mins so a few must like him.

I did think the film was the rapping equivalent of a Rocky movie, but I do think Mr Mathers is more clever than a lot of people think.

got to say it was the first film in a long time that actually lived up to my expectations when I watched it - even the lady liked it & she has gone on record as not thinking too much of Eminem

I Liked it too, the ending probably deludes you into thinking the first half was better than it actually was.

But the end was very funny.
