Yet more hypocrisy

And don't forget he'll have to probably support his misbegotten younger son once he gets back from his extended holiday in a US Penitentiary - if the son is anything to go by, the father's arrogance will be insurmountable over this and any other issue.

Lord Irvine represents exactly why few have faith in the legal system and lets down all the lawyers, barristers and solicitors who believe in justice and not just law for lining their own pockets (as I am sure there are some...somewhere...I hope...).

Actually after reading the article i think the salary is actually quite right, he may be a tosser but for once they seem to have it right on pay...


In my view the governemnt ***SHOULD*** have some of the best people working for it... ususally this isnt the case as the salaries are often laughable when compaired to big business with Irvines job he has to give up any other work and cannot return to the bar when he leaves, so in that case to get anyone good you need to pay ..

Whereas I agree that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys (albeit in this case for a high salary we still got a monkey), but the point being that if you or I were paid a high salary WE would have to pay for our pension - he doesn't. HE gets it free (WE pay for it).
The fact that he can't return to the Bar is, frankly, a red herring in the argument ...... he will be snapped up by numerous Companies with the offer of non-executive Directorships (should he so wish). His earnings will suffer not a jot.
In my opinion he is 'milking the system' ...... but that's nothing new for a politician.
