Help me please!!
Discussion
Wonder if any of you guys can help me. I recently purchased a Clio 16v. My previous car was a nortorious Nova! And i can safely say, the Nova was more reliable out of the two.
So far i have owned the car for 3-4 months and already replaced;
Clutch, Power steering hose, Alternator with belt and tensioner, cam belt, and a few other small bits. And to make me even happier i recieved a cold shower from the sunroof this morning.
Although i love the car, looks, engine, i am finding that problems keep occuring and are becoming a little tedious. i'm starting to regret buying the dam thing.
Cut to the chase, theres a whining noise coming from the gearbox, the noise is different when ticking over. And when i press the clutch in it stops. Help please, before i lose the plot.

Sorry but whats the question?
Do you want to keep the car? Get rid of it? Find the home address of the designer and set rabid squirrels on him?
Not sure how the gearbox on a Clio is, but that type of noise is common on Golfs etc. Normally its the something called the thrust reverser (or something like that). A simple job to fix but more often than not you can ignore it - however, DONT take my advice on that. Can you call a Clio 16v specialist? Explain to them on the phone and see what they think.
Most of the typical gearbox whines and grinds are nothing that a quick poke around cant fix, but worth getting it checked out though. Sorry cant be any more help than that.
Cheers,
Paul

Unlucky, I've had the same sort of luck with my Escort.
Only kidding! I actually laughed at that one!
I tend to agree with the dry release / thrust bearing theory, I don't see why it should need specialist attention, but I doubt it's a job you can try at home.
Could be that your car is broken.
