Bit of a strange request, but wherever I have lived/worked previously I have always been within reasonable lunchtime walking distance of a good pie shop/bakers (even a Greggs will do). However, since starting work in the City of London (near Liverpool Street) have not found anywhere nearby that does anything other than expensive sandiwches or poncey sushi.
Does anyone know where you can get reaonable pies/sausage rolls etc to take away within about a 5-10 minute walk of here. It may jst be that I haven't been looking hard enough.

I was supposed to be having lunch today woth a bloke who claimed to have had a good pie in the City. Unfortunately we both arsed it up and forgot. I rang to apologise only to hear that he was stuck on the M25 en route to Leeds having pulled over to change his daughters draws as she had just pissed herself. During the changing process, his wife had managed to lose the car keys. Luke yelled at her for a while and sent her back into the service station bogs to look for them. As he was talking to me he found the keys in his pocket. He rang off to try to find somewhere to hide them in a feebel attempt to preserve his marriage.
Have I drifted a bit off topic?

from liverpool street station if you go to the Appold street side of Broadgate walk towards Moorgate / finsbury Square, turn right at flying horse Pub,50 yds down there is a proper Fish n chip Shop!
Basically 3 mins walk from l/pool street..they do real vat fried chips, all tyres of fish & a I can personally reccomend the homemade chicken & leak pies...can't remeber the name but it is on the corner by Finsbury square with a burgundy awning.there is a restaurant upstairs that does the same food for double the price if you are feeling flush

I was going to say it was called "Christophers" but may be wrong...Chip shop is on ground floor, usual walk in fish n pies behind glass screens.Looks like any other basic chippy.
The restaurant to the right is up a few stairs ,recently refurbished. They have a few tot waitress girls in there who are quite pleasant,,,,but when you want chips ,,,you want chips..totty can wait!

You need either Simpsons (round the back of the "Jam Pot" or Jamaica Inn) for your posh pies and the italian place on the corner of Paul Street / Bonhill Street for your everyday pie for eat in!
Edited to add that I think Simpsons is what Marki means
Edited again
to add: Ball Court, just off Cornhill

Clubsport - you mean ALEXANDERS ! I was there yesterday, working lateish, couldn`t face pasta at home so took away a chicken & leek pie and also a steak & kidney pie - yummy. All home made and £3.50 each (or £4.50 if you want chips) !
Lots of cabbies know it and the chaps from BLOOMBERG always stop there in their Volvos and diesel Mercs...
