Asylum Seekers (again)

It's SO annoying to hear Bliar tell us that he hopes to reduce asylum seekers by 30 - 40% within a few months and halve them in the short term. How is he going to achieve this?
Simple ...... the government are going to issue an increased total of 175,000 work permits this year. The purpose? Simple ...... once the asylum seeker has a work permit he is no longer considered an asylum seeker and comes off the list. The result ........ asylum seekers have been halved.

Just to add another perspective to this there's a girl at work who came here from Zimbabwe, her family were effectively chased out as they had their own business. The family went to Australia where they had relatives but the daughter came to England. She's got a good job, lives with a guy at work and is generally a decent sort.
They refused to give her her passport so she could go to Australia to see her parents at Xmas (who she hasn't seen for 2 years) so she settled here and now they've told her she has 10 days to get out of the country!
Then you hear stories about gangs of asylum seekers gathering in towns and causing trouble, gang warfare in London and generally chaos where these people settle but then a good potential citizen is told to leave the country or risk imprisonment.
They told her in November to not contact them again and they would be in touch in July so she thought she was ok for now but then out of the blue they drop this on her. You gotta feel for the girl.

Simple. She is a useful addition to our country rather than just wanting the easy ride. Absolutely no reason to welcome her at all then

I'm afraid that under William the Liar, the public service / civil service has got so bit that the time taken to get instructions from the top to the bottom leads to a great deal of chinese whispers and differing standards. And by the time the information has filtered through, the government policy has changed three times anyway.
