Vauxhall Vectra 3.2

Thinking, as you do, about the next sensible car I noticed that Vauxhall are clearly throwing 3.2 vectras at the lease companies (£375 pm over 3 years all in), so this seemed a cheap route to a (possibly) bearable family car. I visited the local dealer to have a look at one and left thinking that I'll spend more and buy a slower Honda, not because of the car (they haven't got one) but the salesman.

Anyone had any similar experiences?

My local Vauxhall dealer is useless.

My dad was left stranded on the A1 after the fuel pipe came off in his Omega. Cause: Tossers had not cliped in back on after a service.

My mums astra needed a new engine (after 8000 miles). Cause: They did not adjust the cambelt tensioner back up properly.

Utter gimps.

I guess it depends on which dealer you use. I've got loads of experience with half a dozen Vauxhall dealers. Some are excellent, others are not. As for service departments, my fleets are about 75% Vauxhall, and they are pretty solid cars - rarely do we have problems. I'm in the business of supplying courtesy cars to many dealers, and get to hear about various fcuk-ups on customers' vehicles. No one particularly stands out as being worse than others.

Had you thought about going to the next nearest Vauxhall dealer? The new 3.2 Vectras ARE pretty nice to drive (not as nice as Mondeos, though - ST220 perhaps?)...
