Another what car(s) ahould I get next question

My current situation is like this;
We have 2 cars, a sensible 405 diesel estate for shopping going out with dogs etc and a not so sensible MR2 Turbo.
I've come to the conclusion that although the MR2 is a fabulous car, its just not getting used as it should. When we go out on the weekends 99.5% of the time we want to take the dogs with us so end up in the 405 estate. This means we regularly end up in the lakes and other such places where there's an abundance of very nice driving roads, this is kind of pi$$ed on when your in a diesel estate car though.
The MR2 only ever gets used for ferrying the misses to work and back and the odd blast on the weekend.
So I'm proposing that we ditch both cars and with the money raised (should be about £8000) buy a nice luxurious estate 'dogmobile' and a shitbox diesel for commuting.
I'm thinking of maybe a Vauxhall Omega estate (RWD/lots of toys), the 2.5 V6 elite model, and a pug 106 diesel runabout.
Bear in mind the big car has to carry 2 dogs, be good to drive and have lots of toys; the other has to be cheap as chips and cost nowt to run....your thought would be most appreciated

Chimaera- our Springer lives in the back quite happily, but you have to shovel the mud out now and again.
ok - we usually take the 405TDI as well, it's even miserable grey. Alison asked me yesterday if there was something wrong with the car (it's hers) cos I was driving it so slowly/badly. No was the reply it just gets me that way. Drive a numpty, drive like a numpty I suppose.

I've recently bought Mrs M one, very quick, comfortable, loads of gadgets

I've got a 3.0 MV6 estate, I like it a lot - only grumble is that the front seats are a tad narrow so as a big bloke I get a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours. May be enough for me to sell it, but I'm not in a hurry to and otherwise it's great, well equipped (Elite even more so), comfy and fast. The boot is HUGE, you'd get two great danes in there. Maybe.
I also had a 106 diesel for a short while, last year. It's OK, nice enough to drive once up to speed, but painfully slow. Undoubtedly the slowest car I've ever owned, incuding a 1979 1.1 Fiesta! Good car otherwise, but you might be better getting one with a small petrol engine.
