The TVR dealership was Christopher Neils in Cheshire. I bought my Chim there last Summer off the same sales guy (Steve I seem to remember). Got a better deal with some hard bargaining than that guy tonight, even with those two shouting instructions down his ear piece.
Made me feel a lot better.
My Mrs was about to give me grief when she saw it was the same dealer/salesman, but bowed to my superior negotiating when she saw that the guy on tonight's show didn't seem to get as good a deal as me.

Eh, Tappets adjusting? Dont need to do that on a Griff 500... dont suppose that you think that it needs a new cambelt every service too?

What a good programme! makes a change from the usual numpty car progs, and the guy seemed to know what he wanted.
the Elise and TVR are two totally different machines, I wouldn't even try to keep up with a Liz around the twisties, just too damn scary! The Liz is as good as it gets for fun driving around the bends, but the TVR is fun at whatever speed in my own personal view at least!
PS, Chan did the last post in my name, she got a tad angry that this was going to turn into a 'my car's better than yours' slanging match!!! lol

Just what PH needs. Another boring **** who slags TVR off at every turn. It's funny but I never, ever see TVR owners going on the Lotus forums and slagging off Lotus reliability.....even though every Lotus owner I have ever met has had similar issues that TVR's owners have. It's only since they started using Isuzu and Vauxhall engines that Lotus' have become more reliable, the day they put a Vauxhall engine in a TVR is the day I get back on a motorbike...
As for the tappetts needing adjusting every 20 miles...
every 12,000 actually. Remember the Esprit Dan? That has to have a £2500 engine out service every few years.... 340R??? £1000 to change the battery because the twats who designed it didn't realise that the whole body had to be removed when the battery got shagged...hardly sensible in a track day car that wouldn't be used every day...

Who said a Griff isn't a car for tartsReally enjoyed programme tonight - just shows how subjective buying a sportscar is. As a Lotus nutcase intesting to hear what a unbiased chap has to say about different goodies on offer.
I would have chosen Elise but £ for £ the Griff offered tremendous val for money and would for uncommitted to a marque be v hard to beat - if I were chosing TVR route Griff would def be my choice - they are pretty special, loud and British.
Interested what he had to say about Boxster and NSX (BMW totally naff) tho' - lots of others may have picked them.
I really enjoyed the programme - more please! - lets celebrate British Sportscars!

Sorry, but it all gets tiresome after a while. Especially when most of us like TVR's and Lotus' and make our decisions on which one to buy purely on personal choice. There isn't any evidence whatsoever that TVR is any more or less reliable or cheaper to run than a Lotus. Just because you choose one over the other doesn't mean that it is neccessarily a "better" car either.....
Lets stop the slagging....please...

I remember a few brown pant moments like that when I first got my Griff, but after a while you learn to control and enjoy it. Caution still advised however ;-)

totally agree, really enjoy it in the wet, just have to be liberal with the loud pedal
a choice i made as well, and went for elise. agree, if it had sports exhaust, he'd probably have got the elise - sounds soooo much better - pretty angry little engine! The Tiv put me off with the fact you can't grab it by the scruff of the neck and throw it about as easily (even if the noise is untouchable) and the cost if things go wrong / running costs - the elise does 40mpg! (not the way I drive it admittedly) but if you're stuck in traffic its nice to know its not costing you silly amounts of fuel!
