My wife and I have just started living apart as she has a new job in Brum and I'm still in Nukearsehole for the near future. On this basis I'm searching for inspiration as to a suitable wee gifty for the 14th. Round the £20-£30 mark as any more and I'll be in trouble as any spare cash is currently going into her Griffith fund.
I was considering a card and a video - Pride and Predjudice (sp?) or the like and wanted to canvas opinion as to the romantic impact of this?
Last year she got 2 carat diamond earrings but there's no bloody chance of that this year, we're married now!

Amelie if you have not already seen it, is a french subtitled film, but it is excellent and a little quirky.

Don't you give gifts because you want to give pleasure to the other person and give a token of what you think of them? These sort of comments (most of the others have been much more explicit) would indicate that for you it's tit for tat. Do you keep a mental calculator running of who bought what?

It just doesn't work that way with me and my chap - we always agree a budget for pressies, and we both always overspend - just cos we like to do nice stuff for eachother, not because we're keeping score.

Incidentally, I've already said on another thread we're going away Saturday night and Track Day Sunday. This time it's my shout because I happen to have a bit more disposable income this month than him. It all evens out in the end.

Perhaps if you need to keep a spreadsheet, then you need to find someone new?

Echo Rude Girls' comments in so much as what she gets me is irrelelvant and anyway is usually much more original than anything I manage. Hopefully this year she'll be getting me drunk and having her wicked way with me.

I really must get to watch this film one day - being a Debbie.

Anyway a mushy film would be wasted on me. I prefer a bit of violence with a few fast cars and grubby men with muscles.

Absolutely not. I rather prefer that she buys me nothing and just asks me "is there anything I can get for you?" (in a sexy Bond girl sort of way...)
