IE6 - With all the 'update packs'

Why is it, when I'm on the LAN at work (Ethernet/Proxy Server) all webpages load as they should i.e pictures graphics etc. but at home (BT Broadband) generally all I get is text and the picture holders?
If I right click on them and 'Show Picture' one by one they all come up but a page refresh still leaves them out. I use Symantics Desktop Firewall too, but that is running in both situations.
Help!

Have you cleared your temporary internet files? (Tools|Internet Options|Delete Files)

IIRC there is something in the settings menu... "ToolS" ---> "Internet Options" ---> "Advanced" (tab on the dialog box) then scroll down to "Multimedia" and make sure "Show Pictures" is ticked...

I occasionally get exactly the same thing - desperately trying to remember what worked - I think a reboot and reset of all the comms equipment is worth a try. Also delete your history unless you have a strong attachment to them.

did you say when on a LAN with a Proxy the page just appears ....
Your Proxy is Cacheing the images before presenting them to you.

at home, the page is being built up in accordance to the priority of the html that creates the page. (your ISP may be cacheing pages too)

In other words, the priority is given to Text, thenimportant images, then other less important images.

My company have a Cacheing re-orderign product that does exactly that, it reorganises the order of download to text comes first, pix are given a lower priority.

Happens all the time, even after re-boot. I delete the history almost daily too.
Sometimes it shows more than others, the BBC one is worst.

I get the problem without a web proxy but have you checked jvaughan's advice above (Tools|Internet Options|Connections tab|LAN Settings - untick Use Proxy Settings)

If you're using the same laptop at home and at work, then there will probably be a proxy setup and this will best be removed when using from home.

Also, do you have a firewall installed. If so, look for a configuration setting called "Block Fragmented Packets" and untick it.

Also try downloading the following, which will update your PC's current MTU settings:

Firewall is already unchecked as you say.
I can't get the link to work.
Having said all that though it is actually better than it was. So confused!
