Elise or Griff ? Discuss

Good mate of mine is fast approaching middle age ( he he ) and has decided to purchase himself a present. Now he's had his heart set on an Elise but today I've thrown the cat amongst the birdies by suggesting a Griff. Much searching of performance figures etc. followed. Any owners of either car care to throw their 2p's worth in. Cheers !!

There I've said it!!!! 
This is not the best place to ask that question (check the ownership profiles). However, on the track, the Elise wins hands down. As a second car, the Elise is more 'different'. But if you want one car that does most things rather well, but nothing especially brilliantly apart from grunt, aural entertainment and wheelspin, I can highly recommend the Griff (actually, I've just talked myself out of the TVR - anyone want to buy a Griff?).
I'm not so sure, i depends what you want from a track car

Sure, the elise will be faster round the twisties
But the Griff will be much more satisfying, you'll really feel like you've driven it, rather than been in a good chassis
(take that with a pinch of salt, I've never driven an elise on the track, but people that have seen my road driving will probably say that I don't have had to
) Oh and he's more likely to be picking bits of GRP out of the ARMCO if he buys a Griff

i had the same choice but ultimately sadly running costs were a factor for me. They are both genuine everyday cars as long as you don't intend to take passengers (and luggage is a no no in the elise). Both fab cars, but i plumped for an elise 111S in the end, I'm perfectly happy with it and with a sports exhaust iy doesn't sound half bad, obvioulsy nowhere near as nice as that griffith rumble though...

However, I have it on good authority that the Elise is one of the best screwed together Loads of Troubles there has ever been. Not necessarily to be dismissed without consideration.........
I can imagine that one would be a hoot - however, does he measure up for one (height information please)? Griff's surprisingly are more roomy, except for passenger leg room perhaps, more comfortable for long distance (I believe, and I will happily do 300+ miles in a trip) and are a bit more practical in the space department, when you chuck the spare wheel out.
And they have big torquey engines, go pretty fast and sound good
