apache - Be very careful your not duped into a pyramid selling setup. Also, watch how much stock your 'required' to move each week/month. If it ain't sold you could end up being liable.
Basically, BE VERY CAREFUL! The sales people come accross as being very friendly and the process can look very slick, glossy brouchers (sp?) videos, posh offices etc .... He'll also want some money from you!

My daughter (18) is an organiser for Ann Summers: as in not just setting up parties, but running her own 'unit' of women who do them. She only started about 6 months ago and she already makes more from the commission on their sales than she does from her own parties! I thought it would have dried up after a few weeks but she is in the middle of applying for a mortgage with ther fiance and they are taking her earnings into consideration! She's actually at Uni, studying Marketing and Public Relations, but seems to have found an untapped vein of naughty knickers and replica black man's willies...

Anything entitled "Pyramid Selling" IS illegal. However,you'd be amazed at the number of "Pyramid" type schemes that are still doing the rounds. Of course, if you challenge any of the people behind these schemes, they will deny categorically that they are promoting a "Pyramid" scheme.
I know this from experience. About five years ago attended a presentation by one of these organisations as a neutral observer (and accountant)on behalf of my step-daughter. She was interested in joining such a scheme. Ostensibly the scheme involved selling domestic products bur the products got hardly a mention at all. Most of the presentation emphasised how rich you could become. Loads of examples of individuals who had done really well were given, illustrated with pictures of their nice big houses, Ferraris etc. More emphasis was placed on recruiting other sellers, with an emphasis on roping in friends and other family members. The presentation lasted an hour or so and was followed by a question and answer session. I bided my time and then asked - "Is this not just another form of Pyramid selling?" You should have seen the look I got from the presenters, followed quickly by a string of denials.
Unfortunately, I couldn't persuade my stepdaughter not to get involved (her boyfriend at the time was the driving force behind their interest). In the end the venture cost them a couple of thousand pounds before they realised that it was virtually impossible to make any money.

This name rings a bell I think an old friend of mine's Uncle who was a bit of a loser (so I was told) got into '...something called Herbal life..' (that excat phrase sticks in my mind) back in the 80's and made enough to buy a hotel and now just lives reasonably comfortably off the procedes.
On a different note I rememeber him having one of the first Sierra Cosworths I ever saw - they one with the in consieveably large 'Whale Tale' and then changed it for a Esprit Turbo, plus he had a bloody quick speed boat.

Mrs Apache has been looking into this and has had some contact with a company called Herbal Life, anyone got any info or advice on this please?

My mum lost 1000 quid in a womens only 'gifting circle'. It involved clubbing together with your mates to raise 'X' amount of cash then giving it to the group above you in the triangle (pyramid) everyone would do this so the group at the top would receive a wedge of cash and the group below would be the next to receive the following week (something like that anyway). It worked for the first few bods but the number of people required to sustain it grew exponentially with each transaction...I worked out that there wasn't enough people on the planet to keep it going for more than a few weeks
....Would she listen, would she bollox.
