The bods who sued MacDonalds a while back on the grounds that they were only fat cos they thought a Supersized half pounder combo was a health meal are back!
This taken from the news today!
" The plaintiffs of a failed lawsuit blaming McDonald's for the obesity of two Bronx, N.Y. teenagers have amended and refilled their complaint in a Manhattan district court.
Although the original suit was thrown out of court last month (see Judge dismisses 'frivolous' obesity lawsuit against McDonalds, the Daily News, Jan. 23), federal judge Robert Sweet gave the plaintiffs 30 days to refile, with information that backs the suit's central claim that diners don't know what is in the food, or that the food is somehow more harmful because it is heavily processed.
The papers were filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan late on Wednesday, according to several news reports. The suit further alleges that McDonald's deceptively advertises its food as part of a healthy, balanced diet."
I'm no fan of Ronalds stuff, but I don't remember ever seeing ads describing it as part of a healthy balanced diet!
Right! Monday morning I'm instructing lawyers to commence an action against Scottish and Newcastle breweries. I always thought beer was a high fibre beverage, and very good for me too, but recently I've noticed that it makes me giddy and gives me headaches. No one EVER told me that alchohol would do this to me and I feel I was missrepresented to, and so I should be compensated. (I also want to buy Racing Greens XJ13, and this is the only way I can see me being able to do it)

well technically, thats the same legal arguement succesfully applied to cigarettes, no one originally said its bad for you, I am not aware of any government warning on beer ads or in pubs, so technically Im not aware of any danger.
go sue them
I can't understand how McD's survive in the US. I spend a lot of time in Wichita (mmmmm... dusty) and there are literally dozens of top quality burger joints where you get hot, freshly prepared burgers and decent chips, cheaper than McD's.
I asked an American colleague why they eat in McD's. Answer: because their kids drag them in after seeing all the "get a free toy" commercials. Pretty cynical, isn't it?

Its the same here though. In Glasgow at lunch time you can walk into loads of different pubs and get a good burger and proper chips and a pint for about 4 quid.
You can spend that on a tiny burger and some pishy fries in Maccy D's.
And then there is Subway and Gregs as well. Better food (healthier) and (in the case of gregs) mucho cheaper.
I only eat Maccy D's food when I'm completely pissed cos it might be bad but it sure ain't nearly as bad as some of the dodgier kebab shops in Glasgow.
At least Maccy D's has some consistency, ie. its always shite

Sadly the usual story of 'It must be someone else's fault' rather than taking responsibility for one's own actions. This suit must be doomed to fail as it is not McD's 'food' (used in the loosest possible term) but the quantity ingested.

There is no secret or magic formula to maintaining or indeed losing weight despite what the slimming guru's may have you believe. It really is a simple formula.
CALORIES IN > CALORIES BURNT = WEIGHT GAIN
CALORIES IN = CALORIES BURNT = STEADY STATE
CALORIES IN < CALORIES BURNT = WEIGHT LOSS
And before I get the; 'well it's my glands / slow metabolism / big boned / I hardly eat anything' retort - THE ABOVE STILL APPLIES. Admitedly if you have a clinically proven low metabolism then your intake may have to be lower than someone of your size but the above still holds true.
