Unlike some of you rich lot with nice, modern cars, mine is old and has developed an Oil leek.

All over the driveway. Not serious, but it will be messy over time.

Can anyone recommend a good cleanser which won't kill the grass but help to wash away the Oil stains?

Is there an "old mothers secret recipey" which works?

regards,

Will, the grease monkey..

depends, you can use drive cleaners but if its tarmac it will wreck your drive.

best to cover the oil mark with fairly liquid and keep putting more on every week, in about 3 months it will have gone

I've been told that Coke does a good job, but then again Coke will disolve anything so don't blame me if you end up with a large hole where your drive used to be

Hang, draw and quarter owner of leaking car-bloody builders grrrr... Liberally rub viscera on the stain. It won't help the stain, but it will make you feel better.
Oh, it was your car so: alternatively liberally apply citraclean to the stain, brush in well hose or (ideally) jetwash to remove the remains of the stain. Repeat as necessary. Citraclean will shift hydraulic fuid from tarmac without damage but if the stain is fresh and the oil is cleanish then pathclean will do it with less risk of damaging yourself or (more worryingly) the wife's plants.
You can buy them here:

£33.50, but still less than a new path !

We had a large hole appear where our drive used to be - just in front of the garage. Turned out the previous occupants had tarmaced over an old well without capping if off properly. Mr Big had only just driven the TVR over it before it collapsed. Have just dropped a load of hardcore and gravel back in for the moment - until we can afford to re-do the whole drive.

Swarfega and a pressure washer.

Apply said green goop to the oily patch and rub in, leave for a bit then pressure wash off.

Put a shallow tray with one inch wooden edges under your car with fine pea gravel in (like they do in the posh showrooms).

Hi William,, Try ready mix concrete mortar mix available from any B&Q or builders merchants. This absorbs the oil.
A relative who works in research for the oil industry put me on to this.

You could pour used engine oil over the rest of the garden, the patch won't stand out as badly then

Bloody hell!!! Brown trouser moment methinks!!!!

BTW Podie you can still buy 'Gunk' from Halfords, saw it on the shelf the other day IIRC...

Or you could do what my mum did when selling her house - simply leave the offending Mini over the oil stain to hide it
