" A 92 year old man smashed through the back window of a car when the brakes on his motorised wheelchair failed.
Mr Arthur Sykes, of Brighouse, suffered head and leg injuries after hurtling down Bonegate Road and ploughing into the back end of the Toyota Yaris yesterday.
PC Rick Collins of Calderdale Road Traffic Police said, "Bonegate Road is on a decline and his brakes failed so rather than run into the road he swerved into the back of the car and he was thrown in through the back window."
The cars owner thought at first a lorry had hit her. She was surprised to find the OAP face down in the back of her car. "

You'll be pleased to know he suffered only some bruises and no cuts. I'm ashamed to say that I laughed out loud when I read it on the FRONT PAGE of the Halifax Courier. My better half knew exactly what I was reading.
I am SO ashamed of myself. But I couldn't help it, really, I couldn't.
I was thinking exactly the same, how fast can one of these chariots go. May be time to trade in the Tuscan for a powder blue NHS spec 3 wheeler.

Bert Greeves, founder of Greeves motorcycles also manufactured Invacar. Bert had a disability himself and drove what looked like a 'normal' Invacar but was fitted with the Greeves challenger motor fitted to the racing machine that, amongst others, steve McQueen raced.
Suffice to say that it was bloody fast and Bert habitually wore a big grin.
