katcher power washer . . . advice

got a bargin the other day from good old B&Q, got a £110 quid washer for £65. Anyway, display model, no instructions . . . used it the other day all fine but need advice for when ive finished with it. Do i take the hose out and hold the lever down alowing all the water to jet out? or does running the motor without water harm the motor? if so how do i get the water out.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Boy they are rather good on driveways i must say! cheers, mark

I leave the water in mine.. I trust you got the little filter for the inlet hose attachement with it ?

Agree with Matt, running the motor dry is not good.

If you are going to leave it in a very cold garage where it might freeze they suggest running some sort of anti freeze through it, the stuff you put in screen washers would do.

I'll have a look through my old papers this weekend to see if I have the instructions, if I have I'll e-mail you a copy.

just had a look at their site and it just says with power off release pressure, but that dosent get all the water out? not sure if the pump is all stainless...just wondered what you guys do. mark

manual states to let water out when electric switched off, they claim this releases pressure on seals, had mine for several years with no problems

there's only two things to remember:

Firstly, it's a pressure joint, so do up the pressure hose only finger tight and let the pressure hold the seal - likewise release the pressure before trying to undo the hose (power off and squirt) otherwise it's a bit of a struggle and doesn't need to be.

Secondly, get the airlocks out of the supplying hose before turning on the power - otherwise you mess with the engine and that's not good.

I leave water in mine and it's not come to any harm yet. Incidentally, have you tried it on a green patio yet? It's magic with the special hard-as-nails-jet attachment!
