Hello everyone. Does anyone know what it's called or how to book it? I need to get the one from Paris to Nice, I think. Is it true you can't take convertibles on it? Would like to take a Boxster. Not sure if anyone has had any similar experience. Thanks for any feedback. Marcos

I'll ask Fish when he gets back from his marathon trip to buy a newspaper which has now taken him two hours. Two years ago we took his Chimp on a transport train from Austria (St Maurice) back to Ostende and his car was fine on it.

Talk of the devil, I will now hand over the mantle.....

Yes you can the options are as follows:

Belgium motorrail going from just outside Ostende. They run to numerous villages including one 15mins from Nice.

French Motorail goes from just outside Calais to again just outside Nice.

They will take convertibles although you need to tell them and they will take a min ground clearance of 10cm so you will be okay although I would suggest watching them when they secure it. Budget about £280-£320 for two people in a private cabin with a car one way. Returns get a discount.

We've used Belgium rail before and the service was fine but very basic ie no restaurant car etc. I've never used the French one although we have been told Belgium is alot better!!.

Better still we believe is German autorail although they don't go to Nice, but do have a nicer service.

The best way to book is via Phone, directory enquiries are giving the Belgium number as 02075932332 they will know the french number.

If you want more details mail me in the week.
