Best argument YOU'VE seen with a traffic warden?

Standing on the steps of our office in central Edinburgh yesterday making a call, I watched as a 'young lad' parked his XR3i on the yellow line outside and nip into the bank.
Two minutes later, traffic warden trundles past, spies the car and tickets it. As he's putting the ticket on the car, young lad reappears and is extremely peeved.
Cue much shouting, ripping up of ticket and throwing it on ground. Followed by patient explanation by warden and much humble pie as young man has to go around the street picking up the ticket in front of bemused crowd.
I'm neither for nor against - just like a bit of street theatre now and again.

Aaah.......reminds me of my performance in the dim and distant past, when plod strode the beat and drove around in the odd Moggie thou Panda.
As a lad of 16, I used to ride a Vespa, one-up from my pal's moped that had to be pedalled uphill (grunt).
I was following him one day, downhill with the traffic, 3rd exit from the roundabout, then up hill with the traffic. Plod used to stop bikes regularly to check brakes and horns in those days. Two of them beckoned my pal to stop but he rode on, oblivious to the waving plodifficer.
Oh dear, thought I, as Constable Batman vaulted the railings, jumped in front of me and shouted "I'm commandeering this vehicle...........follow that moped"
This can't be happening, thought I, lil' ole me with a 6 foot 6 copper on the pillion, uphill, with 15 bhp??! And nowhere for him to put his feet!
"I'm on L plates" said I, "have you got a licence?"
"My authority," said he, "go, go, go......"
This was too good to miss. Even that little Vespa could wheely if you dropped the clutch. He nearly fell of the back, grabbed me with one hand, grabbed his helmet with the other, legs akimbo as my feet kept him off the footboards.
By now my pal was long gone, pedalling like mad up the hill, smoke billowing out behind, but we managed to reel him in as we blazed past the traffic, horn on full buzz at 15mph.
I'll remember forever the looks on the faces of the drivers we passed on that half mile hill climb.........and my pal's face,as he finally looked over his shoulder. Thought he was hallucinating.
Five minutes later, plod finished checking the moped and ticking off my pal. He marched back to me, asking "right, then, how am I going to get back down the hill?"
"Beats me" I replied, as I buzzed away up the hill................

We have a few (public) parking spaces outside our office which are "officially" 30 minutes only, but off the record the traffic warden has told us that due to some technicality the time limit cannot be enforced. So, we park there all day. We also block each other in, to maximise the free parking potential.
Recently, a couple of coppers were in the process of ticketing one of our chap's car for blocking my car in. So he and I went down there to explain that I didn't care that I was blocked it. They moved him on anyway ("not interested, Sir, he can't park there"). The guy drove round the block looking for somewhere else to park and briefly stopped outside to ask me where to find some parking. I told him and he drove off, only to be pulled over 100 yards up the road by the same pair of cops who thought he was just waiting for them to piss off so he could block me in again.
So I wander over to them to explain what was happening. I thought I was being polite, but I later found out from the others in the office who were watching that I was giving it the full "waving arms ranting" job so I was probably 2 steps shy of being dragged off to the station for a "chat"...

Just moved to new pad in Harrow and the TW's round there are as hot as they come, Sat AM witnessed the funniest thing i've seen for a while, matey boy had parked his car on Double yellows and nipped into town, his mate had then come back to the car before the driver did, his mate witnessed the warden sticking the nice penalty fine on the screen, as the warden walked away he heard the mate of the driver calling him a no good time wasting Cun7, upon hearing this the warden had a quick conversation with someone and walked off, i came back 5 minutes later to withness the car being clamped by the clamping team with drivers mate stood there speechless, warden reappeared at the same time with a HUGE grin on his face...
Tres Amusing...

A few years ago was with a girl, and we parked on double yellows to nip in to a shop.
Come out and find a warden about to issue a ticket. Girly goes off on one at the top of her voice about being pregnant and needing a toilet, and how would the warden like it blah, blah, blah.
He looked at her sheepishly and wandered off. If he had an ounce of common sense he would have looked at her and realised she couldn't have been pregnant as she was quite skinny - I suppose that's why he was a Traffic Warden and not a brain surgeon.

An ex-friend of the bread knifes came round once ranting and raving about getting another parking ticket. Anyway, we do the usual "oh, thats so harsh" and "they are just evil arent they" sympathy vote... anyway, long story short.... said ex-friend ended up with a court summons at which point we sniffed something very fishy indeed...
Turned out that said ex-friend had verbally abused (the traffic warden was black and friend was white) the traffic warden to the point where she was in tears, then resorted to violence as the ex-friend then went on to beat up the traffic warden.....!!!!
Ex-friends excuse of "I couldnt remember what happened" didnt really wash and she ended up with a criminal record and a whole load of community service hours to do. To be honest, probably could have even ended up with a custodial sentence too! Still, as you can see, this is why said person is refered to as ex-friend as this type of behaviour is unacceptible... never spoken to her since...
Cheers,
Paul

I parked in a pay-and-display in central Edinburgh and went out with my son, then about 6 months old. Came back to the car, about 15 minutes over the time I'd paid for, and saw the traffic warden writing out a ticket.
I'll just move it I said in a triumph of optimism over experience, trying to hurry with an armful of small child.
Anyway, he looked at us and, I'm not kidding, never in my life seen this before, tore the ticket up !!
