"fun" things to do in London...?!?!

Mate of mine is taking a girl out in London and wants to do something "fun" (?!?)... anyway... having come up with a few ideas (London Eye is out due to vertigo apparently!) I thought I'd ask the PH collective if they have any ideas.

He doesn't seem to bothered about cost (you can tell he doesn't own a TVR!) - just seems intent on impressing the young lady in question...

Suggestions on a postcard to the usual address...

I have heard that the London Dungeon is a good place for lovers, apparently they have a condom problem, with people nipping round the back of the exhibits.

or you could do the "take in a show" and a meal routine, which can be great fun and their is plenty of choice.

Podie, this is only bacause it's for 'your mate', old love

1. Borough Market - walk around the amazing & exotic food & fish stalls, lots of things to buy to eat & great coffee houses.

2. Vinopolis - do the wine tour, learn lots about wine with tasting sessions all the way round

3. Boat ride either up or down the Thames e.g. Tower Bridge to Putney or Embankment to Greenwich

Should be enough there for a full on day out

no trip to the capital can be complete without a quick run up to the top of Monument (but you say vertigo may be a problem.)

in which case i recommend - the crypt at st pauls cathedral to pay homage at nelsons coffin. (which is surprising small for such a great man.)

Keep away from the West End and main tourist traps.

1.) Portobello Road is fun on a Saturday. (Notting Hill Gate tube) - food at the Electric Brasserie is wicked.
2.) Knightsbride/Sloane Street is a nice place to shop if you have the ££££££

There are National Gallery deals on LastMinute.com - Lunch at Quaglino's and entrance to the Aztec exhibition for about £20 a head.

Then with the £ you save you can pop over to F&M and buy her some of the best chocolates in London whilst looking flash as you don't let on that you saved about £30 on lunch...

Oi..! Ms Podie HATES London, so why the hell would it be me!?!? I'm not exactly a big fan either...

The bloke who sits opposite is one of those "I love London" types (never HAD to go there, or live there y'see)... and thinks it's wonderful etc etc...

Vinopolis I'd forgotton about actually - I thought it was OK... well, what I remember of it! (incidentially it was cheaper to book it via lastminute.com than direct with them!)

Barter for a good deal in food poisoning (Indian Curry) in Brick Lane E1.
Check out the Bell Book and Candel on Ludgate HIll ... Finding the toilets is always good for a 5 minute laugh and the food is good.
St Pauls .. already mentioned is also ok. the crypt resteraunt is ok too.

Tate Modern is ok if its raining and you want to get out of the weather, if its a weekday, Old Baley .. see who is being tried (we go there some lunchtimes).

London Dungeon is a laugh, and if if ghosts are your thing, there are a number of ghost trails that run in the evenings

Next to Borough tube station - it was featured quite heavily on one of Jamie Olivers series, he used to jump on his scooter and go down there to buy stuff.

It's quite a good place saturday morning, lots to see & do if you like exotic food.

It's only a 5-10 minute walk from there to Vinopolis.

I heard there's going to be a circus in town on Sunday 23rd March in and around Bank Station (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2819019.stm) - free to watch (well we're all paying for it really)
