Car polish - what do you use?

I usually use Autoglym products on my motor - have done for years and I am always pleased with the results.

I recently switched to Zymol car wash, which is very good and I have seen a few cars done with Zymol polish. Anybody on here used it? Any good? Where can I get some? (found the car wash stuff in Halforbes, but no polish).

Also I was after recommendations of a good quality jet wash.

zymol excellent - but an effing expensive shell-out at first, around £220 for the full kit, but should last for years.

i use meguilars 3 step - excellent value @ around £30 with cloths.

There seem to be 2 different 'grades' of Zymol, the standard stuff sold in your local Max Muppet emporium and the expensive (very!) stuff sold over the web (www.sportscarworld.ltd.uk/).
I bought a 'Japon' starter kit from them last year and have hardly used any of the wax, even with a liberal bi-monthly application.
But Wax doesn't polish, if you see what I mean, meguiars seem to make some highly rated polishes, though I've never used them myself.

Autoglym super resin whatever it is polish. It comes in a nice bottle I think.

Meguilars or however, easy to apply, nice deep lustre and bloody good value, it's got carnuba in it which is nice.....apparently

Autoglym. First application 2x super resin then 1x extra resin. Shine last for ages. And NEVER EVER use the jetwash at Chesterfield Safeway - is this where all the offroaders go to wash off the mud when they've finished knackering all my green lanes ???

I use Autoglym for a quick polish, but if ive got some time on my hands i use Simoniz Original Wax - its a hard wax in a tin, and gives the car a really deep, lasting lustre..

Zymol or Zaino which I get in the ststes..
years ago i used to use Auto Glym...but my paint guys tell me it gets it's shine from silicon,this gets absorbed into the paint & it makes it difficult for any new paint that may be required to take...maybe inaccurate/..but I have never used it since...

Owning a black car makes washing the bugger a rather futile excercise though.

2 hours of waxing on/off on Sat afternoon have just been undone by light rain and driving past a groundworks site that has littered the road with mud.

I'm a complete Zymol convert, and I mean the expensive stuff. Brings the car up gleaming, bought starter kit last year.

I ran out of lemon wash, and to save money bought some jiff lemon juice and amusing that with water to wash the car. Works well and all. Here's a pic of the car after a bit of a clean.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like a lot of people use Autoglym as well. I have been doing a bit of surfing trying to get some more info on waxes and polishes and found this on the Meguiar's site:

The difference between polish and wax.
Today there is a lot of confusion about the difference between a polish and a wax. Many manufacturers are marketing waxes as "polishes" and the terms have become almost interchangeable.

Professionals know there is a big difference. A polish is more like a paint conditioner that restores valuable oils to the paint, eliminates fine scratches and creates incredible high gloss not possible with waxes. An application of a pure polish should be followed by waxing to protect the shine and extend its life.

Meguiar's is one of the few companies that still offers car owners a true polish. All are non- abrasive and safe for all paints.

If you own a dark-color car, you'll see a dramatic difference if you use a polish.

So does this mean that the Autoglym super resin polish has wax in it, or should I apply a wax after using the polish????

Super resin polish is,like most polishes, very slightly abrasive and will restore and condition paintwork (a bit like a very light t-cut). Extra gloss is only supposed to be used on pre-polished paintwork-being a wax, rather than a polish.

Swissol £1,120 for a pot of polish !!! Even Zymol's not that dear. Autoglym's about £15 in Halfords... Say two pots a year, saving £2,210 which, frankly, I'd rather spend at:

Thanks for the link to that Autoglym site, very good tips on there. It looks like you can add an 'extra gloss protection' after the super resin polish, but there is no mention of a wax. I'll have a browse in Halforbes later and give it a try at the weekend so I can show it off at VW on Sunday.

Ive just used the swizol saphir wax after removing previous polishes and swirl marks with their paint cleaner fluid. The results are nothing short of stunning with only 1 layer of wax although it will deepen the shine with further applications.
