Guys,

Just bought a new computer (no software as I have it all). Came to install Office XP Pro onto the new machine and found that the CD is snapped clean in two!!!! Any ideas how I can get a replacement from Mircosoft? I bought it at a computer fair so no chance of taking it back!!!! I still have the receipt and serial number, and of course a CD in two bits!

AFAIK the licence number for XP is not tied to the specific CD.

That being the case, I will gladly make a copy of a CD and send it to you (unless there is some kind of copy protection, which I doubt)

Miniman,

If you have a copy of XP PRO that you could send over that would be great. Would save me time messing about trying to get a copy from Microsoft. Please email me through my profile if you have time to do this.

Cheers
Darren

Can you copy XP though?? Doesn't it need to be registered over the phone or internet to be activated??.

Or am I thinking of office XP????

Anyway you can get hold of a cracked copy of XP (and various other delights) form here

www.pir8forums.com

Its well worth registering if your into films/games.

As a more long term idea. If you send the two bits of the CD to microsoft, i would imagine they'd replace it for you.

totally agree Office XP falls over more times than I do on a Saturday night.

Should be renamed MS Office Patch.

Office 2000 seems pretty bulletproof for a Gates product.

Until you import jpg pictures into a Visio diagram and then import that into Word. Weird result is a jpg picture that is cut in half vertically and the left half put into the right side and the right side put into the left side!
