Well, there's my 8" rather pointy screwdriver, to adjust the door/cable mech. when it goes a bit wonky; My 2D cell Maglite for those inevitable late night starting troubles, and I was rather tempted by one of those steering locks that just happens to look exactly like a solid steel baseball bat. Honest officer.
Seriously though, I have always deferred when confronted by pondlife - big smiles and a friendly wave leaves 'em a bit confused, before I speed off...

I have one of those wedged down next to my passenger seat to deal with any unwanted attention/road rage. Well, its actually one of those handbrake/gear stick locks. Quite how I would explain what I used it for when the handbrake lever and gear stick are next to each other rather than in line in the TVR is beyond me.

Have you ever had one let off in your face? Effective enough to use as a smokescreen. Plus to be honest I'd have been well out of there in the Liz long before it gets that bad
Possession of an offensive weapon ? Possession with intent ? If you actually used any weapon, even one with another usage such as a Maglight, against a perceived assailant you would turn a hiding for you into a charge of assault with intent to occassion actual bodily harm, or GBH, or attempted murder. Also, most men like to believe that in the event of a rumble, despite any self defence training whatsoever, they would mysteriously turn into the ultimate fighting machine. How do you know the weapon wouldn't end up used on you ? Far better to run, if you're being threatened, or surrender the car, if you're being carjacked, than to end up dead.
