I've decided there must be three groups who drive Corsas.
1, The max power muppets, with their LED washer jets, bean can exhausts and plastic light fairings
2, A small group who drive the cars properly
3, The numpties I tangled with on the A38 this morning:
Picture the scene. A38, south of Derby, clear weather, dry road, traffic moving at a fair rate of Knots.
All of a sudden we go from 80mph (ish) to 45mph. Much heavy braking, hazard flashers etc. Completely mystified as to cause until 1 mile later I come upon the first Corsa of the day. - Silver, Y reg, lady driver, VERY large "Child on board" sticker in rear window, and 55mph in the outside lane.
Carnage as various people undertake, attempt to overtake etc. It gets to be my turn to be behind her as she comes upon artic lorry doing 55mph on the inside lane. 2 miles goes by and she is still not past it. I give her a little flash (didn't want to toot horn, in case I woke her up
) and she goes balistic. Swerving around the road as she turns round to point animatedly at her "child on board" sticker.
Eventually she pulls over, gives me a mouthfull, + gesture as I glide by.
10 miles later, south of Burton and we're cracking along at a good rate again when all of a sudden there's mucho brake lights, rapid slowing of traffic again. Back to 30mph. As I look forward to locate the cause I'm appalled to see it's another Corsa. Blue this time. It's pulled out of a petrol station straight into the flow of traffic, clearly without looking. Driver oblivious to the horrors behind (her again).
Finally I'm on the last bit of road coming into my office behind another Corsa (male driven this time) and without any warning he stops, right in the middle of the road. Me and the lorry behind me only just miss him. This is too much for me, so I get out to ask him politely what he thinks he's playing at. He looks at me as if I'm from Mars. I point out the fact he's lucky to be alive (lorry driver joins in too at this point) and he tells me to fcuk off.
I mean, is it me?
Andy 400se (but glad I was in the Volvo this morning)

I do find it amazing. If you use your headlights to flash a driver in front - instead of taking it to mean "I am here!". (And I'd like to past!) They usually take it to mean:
"I am going to overtake you and once I have I'm going to drive straight to your house, molest your children, assault your wife/husband and murder you as you come in the door."
At least - that's what they must be thinking to react the way they do...
Oh and of course - they could never be in the wrong or have been inconsiderate in any way now could they?
Its no wonder there's road rage. I'm with Hannibal Lecter on this one: rude people deserve no mercy.

Has me looking forward to terrifying them when I do the driving for my mum's house move fro Warwick to Belfast - it's so satisfying charging up behind them in a white van with 'rental' written across the bonnet - last time I didn't have a single person hold me up

On a side note, anyone want some stuff taken in a van from Belfast to Oxford down the M6 (or nearby/on route)? As on the return trip the van will be pretty much empty (ex-LWB sprinter) and it would be a shame not to utilise it...

spot on that. I just dont bother any more with the flashing because of the irrate responses I got in reply.

The thing that pisses me off though is when people flash me when I'm in the outside lane with shit loads of traffic in front of me. Why would I want to give up my place?
Of course they generally win by driving 2 inches away from the back of my car, so if the washer jets don't get them back I just give in. grrrr.
Its a truism that slow moving numpties won't pull over and tailgaters aggressively try to push people out of the way.
And when they meet watch the sparks fly! What amazes me is just how rude some people can be. Some bloke following my mate in a queue tailgates and flashes. My mate pulls over. Later the bloke is holding him up. My mate flashes. This guys *stops* the car gets out and want to have an argument about it!
So its OK for him to flash...but not anyone else???!?!
Rude people. Tar. Feathers.

I was behind a Corsa at a Junction a while ago, her view of the on coming traffic was blocked, but rather than creeping forward to give her a better look she just sat there, craning her neck wildly in an attempt to see what was coming...
I'm not actually sure what she was expecting to happen, but she wasn't pulling out, and she was holding me and a steadily increasing number of cars up. From further back I had a clear view of what was coming along the road and so when I felt it was safe I tried to signal to her to pull forward, she didn't see me so I flashed my lights to get her attetion, she was oblivious, so as a last resort I beeped my horn and signalled for her to pull forward.
She turned round and gave me the finger, I was obviously a little shocked, but thought nothng of it. At the next set of traffic lights I pulled along side her, she put down her passenger window and began to give me a mouthful of possibly the most abusive language I've heard outside of an 18 rated film... Stupid cow!

Some years back I did a small web site for Vauxhall to demonstrate after sales service.
We used 2 scenarios; "Vectra man" was a high mileage rep and "Corsa Girl" was a dippy young flit of a bint about town. Seems even the manufacturers view Corsa drivers as a few valves short of an engine

It may be a truism, but (honest Guv) I didn't tailgate the silver Corsa. I gave her lots and lots of room. I initially signalled my desire to pass by staying over to the right hand side of the lane, so she could see me in her door mirror. My Volvo has daytime running lights and is bright yellow! There is no way she couldn't know I was there, unless (as I suspect) she was a complete air headed numpty of the first order.
Even after she had overtaken the truck I waited some time before I flashed her.
Perhaps I should have solicited the help of one or two of the snails living in the cetral reservation to rush out and give her a push!

CarZee said:You'd have to be either clueless or in a company/courtesy car to be driving a Corsa.
So true!
The last time I was forced to drive a Corsa, the Mrs was embarrassed that it had "Such & Such courtesy car" splashed down the side.
Exactly the opposite for me - that was my "Don't treat me like a numpty" badge...
Just undertake and get on with your journey, they're not worth getting upset about.
They're never going to be in the wrong, and without sitting them down with a big whiteboard and some toy cars, they'll never undertand the logic behind driving in the left hand lane unless overtaking.
So it's up to you, get upset, have to signel them, be appalled at their reactions (possibley physical), or just undertake in a safe and responsible manner and leave them to drive to their destination with a complete disregard for other people. Let some prat in a Vectra lay their unique form of foglight vengence upon them.
