Kebabs! Food of the Gods or Devils Spawn?

I cant deny it I love em. Yet every time I have one I am told they are the worst thing you can eat. Ive never been ill but what do you think?

Not long ago I thought I might try a kebab when I wasn't under the influence of alcohol, just to see what they were actually like. That was the last kebab I'll ever eat!

Never eat one that has just been put on the spike. Too much liquid (soon to be goo)fat. Have one thats at least half eaten and have the chilli sauce on the side not all over.

Food of the gods without a doubt though ive had problems with the sauce dripping on my legs as i navigate my way home with my kebab 'compass' leading the way. kebab shop quarter pounders are gorgeous but also ask for cheesy chips or cabbage with mayo if you fancy a change

My Turkish mate Mehmet introduced me to a very good Kebab house (although I think he fell out with them when he dicovered they were the wrong sort of Turk ) and I've often gone back when sober. The fact that they're just over the road from the office doesn't help.

What's the view on Chilli Sauce and Garlic Mayo together? I'd imagined but it's actually

Anyone else familiar with Marmaris kebab house in Bath, just opposite the weir? Spent many a classy night queueing up in there for one of their finest chicken monsters with extra chilli sauce and whole chilli peppers.

Seem to remember regretting it in the morning, though...

I think we need to distinguish between

"Kebab"


and


"Doner Kebabbbbbbbbhhhhh"


Doner Kebabs are carefully made of shite and then cooked in the manner most likely to induce food poisoning known to man. (However GREAT they may taste whilst totally pissed).

Kebabs - they have pitta bread, they have salad just the same but the meat in them doesn't have to be shite.


Used to know a Kebab shop in Ipswich that sold really delicious lamb kebabds with proper meat.

Unofrtunately due to populat demand they also sold Salmonella Specials...but that wasn't their fault...

It all depends on where you get the kebab from. Personally i don't eat stuff from takeaways any more after seeing all those food program showing the process of making the food

I would suggest home made kebab, much, much better for you.

Whilst currently undergoing private dental repairs ,every friday afternoon,for a period of weeks.
Awaiting a dentists bill that would buy the Tiv a new set of Red Rose suspension .
I always make sure i have a large Donner c/w chillies for friday lunch .
That way, i know Dentist is earning his new Jag vouchers, as he drills away, in a fog of kebab gas - from both orifices .

Medium chicken kebab, salad, a few tomatoes, onions, a little chilli sauce, mango chuckny, £2.70.



Cant beat them, the best beer soaker upper in the land. Not good when you wake up the next morning......ring of fireetc etc

Ali Baba's, on the triangle in Bournemouth (must point out that it's close to my folks place, I don't frequent for the other reason people visit the triangle, should you know it....)

They do the most amazing 'persian salad' which goes really well with a chicken kebab. It's like a potato salad, but with chicken and peas in - once smothered with chili and garlic sauce, and not forgetting the all important lemon juice, this really is food of the gods.

Would touch a doner nowadays mind....
