Any info or thoughts gratefully received, good folks

Am planning to move in the forseeable future. I have the luxury of a garage (or two) for the vast comfort of Trevor at the moment. Won't have this when I move (between Watford and Rickmansworth) and so I am hoping to find a lock up somewhere convenient.

So far I have tracked down one national firm that has lock ups all over the place, am starting to scour the local rags and will be considering leaflet dropping in the neighbourhood.

Any other bright ideas? Anyone, by any chance know of one - stranger things have happened. Any sharp practices or problems I might need to keep in mind? How much is a reasonable price?

Have you tried your local authority or Housing Associations. Although they are moving towards market rents there are still bargains to be had.

you think you got problems. Try living in west central London.

First one I rented was a council lock up (huge waiting list for them) was illegally sublet for cash in hand to me (£120 a month). Got this one by looking in Loot (free ads paper) and using loot.co.uk online. The best way for sure.
That lasted 8 months until I had so many threats of violence from one resident about the noise of the car I got scared and found another one.

This one is in a private rented block, costs a bit more £140 a month), carpeted, no power (being put in soon for free). And it's attached as part of someones house, so I have to push the car out and push it back in. I don't wanna lose this one as it's 3mins walk from my flat (the one before was 3/4 mile away). Again sourced this one through loot.

My S lives in a lock up... and they are hard to find! Scour the local press, try the letting agents and even send an e-mail to your mates and ask them to pass it on (that's how I found the Tiv's current home!).

On the council waiting list... but fear I may be waiting a looooooong time.

Who's this national lot you've found then?

Some firm advertising in "Loot" and called Dudrich (Holdings) Ltd (020 8882 8575), never heard of them before, so if anyone's got any news......

(Obviously e-mail through profile with bad news rather than taxing Ted's Binning Stick!!!!)

Jeez,

I pay £10/week for my lock up, complete with security CCTV and its huge - big enough to put a suzuki jeep in while still on a twin axle trailer, with room at the back for a generator and a full set of spares.

Mind u, it is in Gateshead

Just rented a lock-up.

Top tip: get details of local garages from someone like Durdich and go see them. Many of the garages in the same block will be rented by other companies, some local (they usually put advertising boards up). Rent a garage from the local outfit: get the same as you would from Durdich but generally cheaper.

I rent mine from a local surveyors office.
