Which car have you owned for the longest time?
Discussion
On the 23rd March I will have owned my current car for eight years. OK I know it is only a measley Nova but it has given me eight years of reliable very cheap motoring and enabled us to save up for other things (ie the Griffith).
So PHers - which car have you owned for the longest amount of time and why?

F reg Suzuki Swift 1.3Gti. When I was a student and poor startup company owner this little buggy got me around for about 3 years. Amazing little car.
It came to a sad end when the bonnet catch failed on the motorway at 80MPH and I had to erm... negotiate my way to the hard shoulder, then I had no money to fix it as body parts were so expensive.

My Rover 216 cabriolet. I've had it almost 4 years now, which is something of a record for me - normally I get bored after about 18 months.
And why? Because it's really easy to drive, relatively cheap to run, and mainly because nothing's fallen off it yet!! All is requires is a nice service once a year and away we go. (Well, it does need tyres and things every now and again, but you know what I mean...)
Going to P/X it one of these days, or maybe just sell it on. When I can muster up some enthusiasm for doing so. Lazy, me?? Definitely.

I've got a Triumph Vitesse which I've just realised I've owned half my life! i.e. 17 years.
Bought it for peanuts with money saved from my Saturday job and have completely restored it over the years, but it has got knackered all over again. I am too attached to it to get rid of it though so I'm starting another rebuild.

4 years for my first car. The road burning (yeh right) Citroen AX GT.
What a machine, about as sophisticated as a sewing machine and not that fast off the mark. But it was really reliable and was a barrel of laughs to drive, especially around the country lanes.
The servicing costs were great, one annual service, 35 quid. Paid sharpish and left, but new tyres were about 70 each as only Michelin made the right size.

To be fair I stripped it to resore it and it's not quite finished yet so I've never driven it
Well done
Mine was my 1972 VW Beetle.. sadly departed in October of last year due to a lack of use on my side. We had 10 years and about 60,000 miles together mind you
Matt.
