Sort of en topic this one, it's about cars

Anyway. I am now keeping my little beasty and am looking to improve her further. To this end, I am looking for some new brakes. I want some very powerful calipers with rather large discs. I am going to source them from an exotic car dismantlers (scrappy for expensive cars ). Now, given the amount of exotica in PH land, what do you guys recommend? I can get pretty much anything as I am getting the brackets fabricated. First thought was Ferrari 355 and Cerbera. The Cerbera brakes are much cheaper as they don't say 'Ferrari' on the side but they are still AP jobbies.

What do you guys recommend? Remember I have big roomy wheels so size is not a problem. I just want the best brakes I can get. The dismantler has most exotic cars in.

Cheers,

John

911 Turbo or AM Vantage I thought had the 'best' brakes.

I am sure thats a fairly subjective viewpoint though.

Matt.

Dont touch the lotus elan brakes with a shitty stick. You would be better opening the door and dragging your foot.

the only problem is that you might find you're overbraked. I put Turbo4 calipers and discs on my 930 turbo - (the big red ones) - superb stopping power. I could stop the wheels instantly at any speed. However the fronts lock straight up (you had to be very gentle with the brake pedal to avoid it) and of course that's no bloody good. So I had to fit dual brake servos for front and rear bias.

As you say though, you can sort that out by changing the servo or the cylinder. I had thought about that but if I can get calipers that powerful I'll be happy to twiddle with the settings
