Does anyone know of any petrol stations in Brighton or the surrounding area that still sell 4 Star petrol? I've only got about 2 gallons left and I need to do 200 miles this weekend

Don't know about Brighton but I do know that the West Hoathley garage at West Hoathley does. Somewhat out of your way as its sort of between Crawley and East Grinstead, but better than nowhere!

They might of course know of somewhere nearer you!

4 star?? wasn't it banned in 2000?

Do you mean LRP? Most garages seem to stock it - I'd imagine Brighton is no different.

I think the small 2-3 pump place on the coast road at Peacehaven do it (before you get to the 'trade sales' place)

cant think what the name is at the moment.

Yeah, LRP. According to the guy at Texaco everywhere is getting rid of it now, most of the supermarkets stopped selling it ages ago

Why not use UL and get a bottle of fuel additive?

Matt.

Genuine 4 star is available, it was not actually banned as an agreement was struck to enable about 3% of the total fuel sold in the UK to be actual 4 star. A company called Bayford Thrust have the rights to supply the fuel and they supply to independents. Their website is either:

www.bayfordthrust.co.uk

or

www.bayfordthrust.com

There is a list of all the garages they supply on it!

I only know this as I occasionally treat my S1 Landrover to the real stuff, and there is a garage that sells it locally!

Thanks guys!
I was considering putting in a petrol additive (Redex), but I'm too lazy. Is it OK for the engine? I run an '86 Peugeot 309 1.6 which has been converted in the past to run on UL, but apparently it didn't go very well so it got changed back.
